Jimmy Neutron
Headed up for the first time in July... Will be the first of many trips. My wife is worried I won't come back. Let me know what you find. I know I'll be hitting Anchorage, Juneau and Cooks Inlet.

rocknrobn26
Great place for photo ops. We did a cruise. Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, Victoria, and the Tracy Arm passage. All were great. Enjoy.
Riffraff
Been to Anchorage 5 times. Pretty place if you are a city slicker or rarely see mountains. Has some pretty views. Moose can be seen regularly. It's an older port town. Plenty of pot holes, lots of one-way streets. Can't get lost though, it's just mostly a grid. You have the usual touristy shopping places in the downtown area. If you want some unique gifts, I'd suggest finding the Alaska Fur Exchange - you can spend an hour or so in there looking at the stuff. Pricey though. The mall is downtown and indoors. Well known for alcohol and Josh Gordon use. Plenty of popular bars downtown like Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse and the Glacier Brewhouse. For sports bars, check out the Peanut Farm Bar and Grill or Henry's Great Alaskan Restaurant. Definitely try out Moose's Tooth Pizza. Great selection of pizza. They brew their own ales and sodas. Probably advisable to get a reservation too, not your normal pizza joint. For expensive and small portion fine dining, Sullivan's Steakhouse was decent. Try the elk. Don't recall if it's the right time of year, but they have an indoor football team - Alaska Wild. Tickets max out around $40 at midfield, front row. If you've never been to an arena game, it could be your chance.
Controller
We flew into Anchorage then took a very cool train ride to a cruise ship port, then cruised down to Victoria, BC with many stops along the way. Enjoyed every minute of it, espeically the glaciers. The scenery is spectacular. Would do it again in a heartbeat. You will defnitely enjoy it, Furd. SEC=UGA
When I was in Russia I could look out of my window and see Alaska, but never been there.
MikesVikes
When I was in Russia I could look out of my window and see Alaska, but never been there. That would explain your commy remarks then.
Furd
Thanks for the comments. We're spending our last two days in Seward. We're going to do some kayaking in Prince William Sound. We are going to do a seaplane "excursion" (whatever you want to call it), probably in that area as well.
