After thinking about it some more, I remembered a similar play (ironically, from Week 1 last year). Some of you will no doubt remember this play and I believe there was a thread dedicated to it at that time, too.

Murphy made the catch and so did Johnson. That rule needs to be changed as this is now at least two hugh plays that have been negated and had major impact on the outcome of the games

Yep. That's the one where I posted a rant about what a crock it was and IIRC Captain Hook correctly pointed out that the refs were correct by the rule. I couldn't believe it either but he was right, which is why I knew right away that (by the rule) Johnson hadn't completed the catch this Sunday.

I think that the Lions got hosed as well. Big time. But I hear some say that if a RB crosses the goalline it's a td then this should be a td. That's a different animal. A receiver has to make a legal catch whether he's in the end zone or not. I think that this call is a stretch to not have it as a td however. You need to look very hard to rule this as not a td.

Btw, the Lions got hosed in a game against the Vikes a few years ago. In fact it was the 0-16 Lions season where they actually should've had the victory over the Vikes. The refs called a pass interference penalty on the Lions. I was listening to the game on Vikings radio and even they couldn't believe the call. That could've been Chilly's beginning of the end of his Vikings coaching career but it looks like we also got hosed as well.
