 Big Ben had an appendectomy on Sunday Sept. 3rd, 2006.

They were scheduled for the Thursday Night NFL Season Opener on Sept. 7th. He missed that game.

He played the next week, Week 2, and it was a Monday night game on Sept. 18th. He wore a flak jacket. Pittsburgh lost 9-0 at Jacksonville and he was awful. 141 yards, 0 TDs, 2 INTs. Not one rushing attempt, not one scrramble........and he had a full 15 days to recover.

Matt Cassel had an appendectomy on Dec. 8th. He's going to try and play on 11 days rest.
