With the notable exception of Honeymooners, not counting shows which didn't last long FYI (or we'd have to have the "worst" category be about a million) and even so could I go on further with the "worst" list - ! The latter years blew (as is often the case with sitcoms) but the early stuff was IMO really good (and TV desperately needed a quality family sitcom at that time). Unfortunately Cosby was about the only person on that show with any real talent (the wife was OK) and even worse it seemed to inflate his ego so much that he was never the same ie painfully unfunny thereafter. Best Andy Griffith Show (the Don Knotts years) If we expand to perhaps top 10 I might include this and at the very least IMO it gets some kind of mention as it was the best sitcom which was not "in front of a live audience" - something which IMO is hideously overrated (even though Jackie Gleason pioneered it and swore by it). I think from about the mid-70s on they pretty much all do that now. Worst Whats Happening Good Times racist. IMO Benny Hill and Monty Python wouldn't count as they aren't sitcoms and Charles in Charge wasn't around long enough, but just my .02.... I would also give an hon. mention to Odd Couple, Taxi, Frasier, and Golden Girls (which I admit I would have never gotten into if not for my girlfriend but have to give credit where IMO it's due). Cheers I guess too although it generally didn't do much for me. They seemed to go for the cheap laugh far too often.
