'canes2004
San O is too far south. Plenty of spots around LA to long board. The entire South Bay (Venice, Hermosa, Redondo, Manhattan Beach) is ok. Crowded city surf. If longboarding is your thing, you might as well head a little north and hit Malibu. The epicenter for longboarding on the planet. I've surfed all over Southern and Central California. Hit me up if you need some more detailed info.

You say he's looking at schools. Which schools? I'll give you a laundry list of places to hit up. San O is too far south. Plenty of spots around LA to long board. Well, if his son is looking at, say, UC Irvine, then San O is not too far whatsoever. I thought I saw some FB posts of you heading down the coast. Shame on you for not alerting local Huddlers or looking for local input on spots to hit up. Or perhaps shame on me for missing such thread. I usually go about every other year. One of my best friends growing up here in FL moved to San Clemente when we graduated high school. I hang with him and his family while I'm there. We usually go on road/surf trips to either up north or into Northern Baja. I almost moved to San Clemente about 5 years ago but it was in the middle of the housing boom and real estate prices in that area were out of control. It's still one of my favorite little beach towns (Morro Bay as well) in all of CA. Love that area.

Wasn't really a huge surfer but I know the good spots I have friends that grew up in San Clemente. Great town, yes. Lookin at schools was a joke if one gets in the way we'll look. You can actually find some cost-effective places to stay there.
