Tford
Since the NFL rookie draft is tomorrow and our league's rookie/devy draft is less than two weeks away, I thought I'd create this thread to help with tracking of our devy players. Rules surrounding devys are summarized in the quote below. Quote 3.3.2 - Devy SquadEach franchise will also be allocated a College Developmental Squad (Devy), containing up to 3 college players. Players can be from any college team and have completed one year of college football (this eliminates the "gray area" surrounding early enrollees). Once selected by way of the Rookie/Devy Draft or free agency, these players can remain on each owners' team until they are drafted by an NFL team, at which time the owner must either sign the player to their active roster or place them on DTS. Each off-season, a combined Rookie/Devy" draft will occur. If an owner selects a devy player, they must cut one of their current devy players unless their prior devy(s) have been previously moved to their active roster or DTS. Devy players may be traded for other AFL-Devy assets (NFL players on active or DTS, future draft pick(s), and/or AFL-Devy Bucks.Owners are only able to add devy players during the devy/rookie draft. As the league develops, we may entertain adding/dropping devy players. I am interpreting this as teams cannot have more than 3 devys at any time. Therefore, teams need to be cognizant of the devys on their team and must cut/trade a devy prior to selecting another devy in the draft if up against the cap of 3. Yeah that was the intent. 3 devys (or less) at any time. And again, devys will be selected among rookies in our upcoming draft.
rr23724
So devy players can be dropped in the off season or even during the draft to make room?

rr23724
I could have sworn I asked this before and was told we couldn’t cut them or it says something like that in another rule.

I think it was pertaining to adding someone else in their place. One owner tried to do a waiver claim during the year to get a new devy player, which would invalidate the entire concept of devy drafting. You also can't cut a devy and add another DTS in his place - it's 10 and 3 hard limits despite the fact they are both on the same taxi list.
