Is that how criminal proceedings usually work? It seems at least a bit unethical to me. Either way they lied to somebody, getting a conviction may be nearly impossible now, but that doesn't make Dunbar and Baker innocent. Hmm, they paid them off, using an attorney no less, who was also a member of the FL state legislature. But the story sounded so plausible, everybody believed these guys were innocent once the accused recanted.

I know people make senseless stupid decisions sometimes but this was a 10 to 20 million dollar mistake for $80,000 that he never even got back. That assumes that he doesn't play again anyway. stevegrab
Still trying to understand how they decided not to prosecute Dunbar, initially it sounded like the case was pretty solid against both, before the recanting and counter recanting. All I've seen is "insufficient evidence", so sufficient enough to charge one, but not the other. Maybe it had to do with who was actually carrying a weapon and making the threats, reading more detail Baker was initially charged with both aggravated assault and armed robbery, while Dunbar only had the armed robbery charge. Oh well that was some off-season fun...
