Each year every owner may designate 1 player whose contract expires before the RFA period begins to be his franchise player for the year. The owner will tag the chosen player by posting the players name in the official franchise tag thread in the AFL-Devy forum. The cost to designate a franchise player is $10 AFL-D bucks, and that amount will be deducted from the team's official balance at the start of RFA. This fee is deducted regardless of the owner retaining or losing the player during the RFA period or via trade.

8.1 Franchise Tag Restrictions
Franchise tags are valid only for the team who issues the tag by posting in the franchise thread and paying the initial fee. The tag is non-transferable, from the time a player is tagged until all RFA bids close for that player, or the end of RFA, whichever comes first. In the case that a tagged franchise player is traded away during the aforementioned period between tagging and bid closing/end of RFA, the teams franchise tag will be voided for the year. The $10 tag fee is non-refundable.

FT threads are up and bucks are deducted. Accounting balances are accurate.

Quick notes on bidding:

- One bid per bidder per FT. No bumping it up.

- No edit/deletes.

- It is up to the tagging owner which bid to accept. It is not necessarily just the highest cash amount.

- You need at least $21 and a first round pick in this year's draft to bid with. If you do not have a first round pick, you cannot bid.

- If you own two first round picks in the upcoming draft, you must specify with pick you intend to bid with. If you do not specify, your bid is void.

- Assets can be bid on more than one FT. When bids closed, the first owner to accept the bid by replying to the FT thread with completes the transaction, then other bid is void at that time unless the owner can cover multiple bids (ie. has enough cash for multiple bids and specifies separate first round picks)

-Matching requires half of the highest cash bid minus $10. Ex: A bid of $100 would require a match of $40.

- Bids are due by Mar 28. Owners must match or select a winning bid by Mar 29.

- Selecting a bid yields the relinquishing owner the first round pick specified and half of the cash bid. The FT fee is not refunded.
