I agree, I thought after Miami meltdown, NE would not win another game this year.  But did you see how NE demolished the Jets in their backyard?  I was shock, how can a team lose to Miami then pull a 180? I'm think I back on the NE bandwagon.

Sometimes a beating wakes up a team and they realize they better pay attention. I think if you underestimate the Patriots in the playoffs you are making a huge mistake. We have seen it twice in 3 years and I think if they made it in 2002 we would have seen the same. They are a different team once the playoffs roll around.

Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and San Diego are all playing some darn good ball right now.  Indy had been looking real strong (with an improved defense) until this week when SD should have beaten them ... yet they found a way to win at home.  Pittsburgh has won many close games but handed it to Baltimore this last weekend.  I guess I shouldn't discount New England either despite the egg they laid in Miami 2 weeks ago.

Four very solid teams.

Buffalo is playing very well right now too ... and could be the best team NOT to make the playoffs.

Having to pick ONE of those teams is pretty hard to do ... my first thought was to give Pittsburgh the edge because of their home field advantage, but they haven't really faced a high powered offense like SD or IND this year ... with the possible exception of their win against Philly and maybe even New England.  If Big Ben is out then so is PIT .. if they lose Bettis as well as Staley they are done as well.  One of those teams is going to have to go to Pittsburgh and beat them in their house to advance.

It's likely that SD will have to go to PIT (as the lower seed) and Indy will have to go into NE (yes I am assuming that Indy and SD win their first games against the wildcards, whoever they are).  I believe SD can beat PIT ... and the Indy - NE game is a tough one to call.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say SD goes to the SB.

NFC is much tougher to figure out.  Philly losing Owens is HUGH, even having Westbrook ... but I like the way Carolina is playing right now.

SD-CAR, SD wins

Couldn't agree more!! :D:D

I agree with the AFC assumption, SD surprises everyone and is in the SB. For the NFC, it would have been Philly but now they are out in their first game. Instead of Car. I say Min., don't really have a basis for that since they always seem to fold in big games. Minn. beats Car in the Championship game - two wildcards. This year I think it is different and we have a SD-Minn SuperBowl.

With the winner being SD

I am reminded a lot of 2001.  Pats have a newbie QB and a great D and they did nothing but win, but they got no respect, that is, until they went on to win the SB.

2004 Steelers = 2001 Pats

I've always said in the past that the Steelers will never win a Super Bowl with Kordell Stewart as thier QB or Bill Cowher as the Head Coach. So they are half the way to winning a Super Bowl. So I say they go as far as the AFC Conference championship game. So Steeler fans if you want a ring lose the coach! Trust me there is some truth to that!

PS. Does anyone remember was the line or spread was back in 2001 AFC Championship game? Just Curious!

Why, cause Cory Dillon will be playing?

Let's see what some other big-name RBs have done against the Steelers this season:

Week 16 - J. Lewis 14 carries, 26 yards

Week 15 - T. Barber 18 carries, 76 yards

Week 14 - C. Martin 24 carries, 72 yards

Week 13 - F. Taylor 27 carries, 76 yards

Week 12 - C. Portis 6 carries, 17 yards

Week 9 - B. Westbrook 6 carries, 17 yards

I would say Dillon is the difference...

I go with History....

History says the Steelers and the Colts will be out. Plus Tom Brady is undefeated in the post season. 7-0! Brady is the best big game QB in the NFL. Tell who is better then him in the post season game........???? I hear nothing!m Do you honestly don't believe NE will step it up another notch in the playoffs....II remember Pittsurgh chock a 14 point spread in 2001.

So you do recall that the newbie Brady and the Pats were the underdogs when they won their first Superbowl. Now they're the king of the hill and newbie Ben and the Steelers are the underdogs. I like the underdogs again this year.

Did you know last year the Pats were favorites to win the Super Bowl and guess what they did win!

Any other team besides the Patriots you have an arguement.

It is a cycle, and the Pats are at the end of it.

They came out of nowhere, beat the favorite, and won another one. They're all set up for the fall. They're time is over. The torch is going to pass to a new underdog team.

I don't think it necessarily is a cycle with the Pats, or if it is, it could be a very long one. They have salary cap space, they have a great coach and front office and they select their players on character and teamwork before star quality. They aren't done yet.
