He recently asked second-year QB Jeff Smoker to abandon his No. 9 jersey in favor of No. 15 because he believes certain numbers carry bad karma. Imagine what Smoker is thinking. More to the point, if Smoker is ok with changing then no big deal. I know some players are very much attached to certain numbers, if he is attached to his number then he should argue the change. Especially since Martz has been so vocal as to why he wants him to change. It has nothing to do with Smokers abilities which is the only thing Martz should be judging him by. Pope Flick Posted June 13, 2005 Share Posted June 13, 2005 A buddy of mine hung with one of the Rams players recently here in LA and was told that the players do NOT like Martz, in large part because he doesn't talk directly to his players, but through his coaches.
