Menudo
Here is the newest article written. Some good information in here. New Hines Ward Article This is very frustrating for me, and I'm sure the rest of us Steeler fans... # 1 - It shouldn't have gone this far. The Steelers are to blame for that. They shouldn't have waited this long to work on something. Bettis was 100% correct with that statement. # 2 - I do think that Hines should come to camp and get the deal worked out. If there is one thing I've learned about the Steelers, is that they are stubborn. There is a rule about not negotiating with players who aren't in camp, and I'll be surprised if they break that rule. I do like the rule, as it makes players show up, but If Hines and his agent stay stubborn to their convictions too, it could get ugly. # 3 - I still expect something to get resolved by Wednesday at the latest. # 4 - The one thing I got from this article, is how well respected Hines Ward is by his teammates. The Steelers had better realize that the fans hold this same admiration for this player who embodies everything that a Professional Football player should be. If the Steelers do not get something done, there will be a huge backlash from a very loyal group of fans. Get the deal done !!!!!!!!
'canes2004
I am not a Steelers fan by a long shot. And I am certainly not a fan of a player under contract holding out for more money. Heck I'm not even a Bulldogs fan for that matter. But if any player in this league needs to re-evaluated by his team for services rendered ie. coughing up some more cash, it has to be the Steelers giving in to Hines and his demands. Talk about team leadership and a lead by example type of guy, you've got Hines. There is no way the Steelers want to start their season or even camp for that matter, without Hines among them. This guy is flat out a no guts no glory old school football player not to mention an excellent WR. Even if they have to do some type of secret negotiations, they need to get him in camp. Did I mention I have Hines in 3 leagues?
Bill Swerski
I was listening to Mike and Mike a few days ago (Friday, IIRC) and Golic was arguing that there was little difference between Ward and TO's actions. I wanted to reach through the speaker and smack his fat, ugly face. Give Hines (1) what you've promised and (2) what he's earned, you cheap ba$tards Edited August 1, 2005 by Bill Swerski
dfv87
Swerski hit it right on the nail... 1 you promised to get this done. 2 you need to get it done, pay him. I mean nobody is disputing he deserves more money, pay him. And pay him some guaranteed money not the in 6 yrs you get $10M if we don't cut you. muck
I'm sure the Steeler brass isn't not excited about the host of veterans that came out publicly on Wards' side of things...Joey Porter, paraphrased, "Whatever he's asking for, he's worth it. Pay him. We can't win without him." Bettis. Ward's roommate saying he makes Roethlisberger a better QB and that it'll hurt Ben if Ward isn't in camp. etc Also, I'm betting that Rooney is not happy about this either...and will be pissed if this drags on. Solution: Hines Ward shows up to camp (meeting PITs requirement that he's "in camp"), but, just sits around playing X-Box and lounging in the lobby, napping, etc...until a deal gets done.
