keggerz
any inventers here? just watched the LJ face mask again and that was just brutal... not sure if or how it would be possible but anyone think a "tear away" face mask could be manufactured? would have to be designed to not pop off on a hit but with the twisting that takes place on face masks...and of course it would have to be able to be snapped back on with ease too

tonyr0802
How about several, smaller, holes that that a finger couldn't fit inside it to grab a hold of.

It's waaaaay in my past to remember how to do it, but in essence you would just replace whatever fastens the face mask to the helmet with a material that has good strength but was engineered to shear if pulled in certain directions with adequate force. It's probably a little more complicated than that, but it sounds very possible

cre8tiff
Remember the 15 minutes when tear away spamshirts were all the rage?
Skilly
What about just smearing the entire facemask with vaseline to make it impossible to grab? Oh, because really you WANT the defender to grab the facemask so you can get an extra 15 yards. I don't think really it's that big of a problem. If it was, they would be giving heavier fines, and increase the penalty to something ridiculous like 30 yards half the distance to the goal. But, I have to admit, the force field idea intrigues me.
