alexgaddis
Don't cook them as long. It has to be more than that...I heard that you should use shortening instead of butter but that didn't work...but we WILL be pulling them out of the oven more quickly as well... Big Country
My wife never had a problem making delicious chewy chocolate chip cookies. (They alone probably added 20 pounds to my frame after we were married) Maybe you should have married a better baker? I believe the key is using soft butter, and taking them out earlier... they'll still cook a bit once out of the oven.

Just can't make a damn soft cookie... of course she says "wouldn't you rather have me make things hard?"

Shortening is the devil. If there is a "silver bullet" to eating healthier, cutting that crap out of your life is it. On a molecular level, it more resembles plastic than any food you might eat. Sir Loins of Beef
try a little extra vanilla or making sure the cookie dough is cold before you bake.
detlef
So don't use shortening then? essentially, yes. My wife used to have a nutrition consulting practice so people would always ask her at parties and such what the one thing they should cut out of their diet was. She always said, if there was just one thing to cut out, it is hydrogynated oils. They are absolute poison. Damaged oils are far more the culprit for clogged arteries and such than saturated fats and cholesterol. This includes shortening as well oils that have been heated to the point of burning.
