FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- Text of the statement from New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick after he was fined $500,000 for stealing an opponent's signals:

"I accept full responsibility for the actions that led to tonight's ruling. Once again, I apologize to the Kraft family and every person directly or indirectly associated with the New England Patriots for the embarrassment, distraction and penalty my mistake caused. I also apologize to Patriots fans and would like to thank them for their support during the past few days and throughout my career.

"As the Commissioner acknowledged, our use of sideline video had no impact on the outcome of last week's game. We have never used sideline video to obtain a competitive advantage while the game was in progress.

"Part of my job as head coach is to ensure that our football operations are conducted in compliance of the league rules and all accepted interpretations of them. My interpretation of a rule in the Constitution and Bylaws was incorrect.

"With tonight's resolution, I will not be offering any further comments on this matter. We are moving on with our preparations for Sunday's game."

Well, not much sorrow there. :D

Interesting choice of words there. What about future games against those same teams Billy boy?

Belicheat has learned from those others who try and cover sh*t up, only to be caught and crucified later. At least he took responsibility for his actions. Though there was video tape evidence at play here.

Wow I think you actually complimented Belichick in a way there. :D

He apologized and took blame for his actions. For anyone that thinks he was not sincere, what did you want him to do? Start crying, get on his hands and knees and ask you the fan for forgiveness?

Hopefully this is the end and we can get to some actual football talk. There is a rather large game Sunday night.

i think his words were good. Again, I dont think it's all that big a deal, but I gotta say, he handled it well, took his lumps, and moved on.

Doesnt sound like he is challenging the ruling, so why would anyone think the NFLPA would challenge it.

I think the point is the NFLPA wouldn't challenge the ruling, but they might have given Goodell some feedback leading up to the decision that they would be against losing a first round slot.
