Cabana Boys
Today's SF Chronicle Fantasy column is suggesting starting Steven Jackson vs. Seattle this week. I have not seen this information anywhere else, does anyone have information? The comment in the article does not indicate any change in his health status. KFFL is suggesting he'll be doubtful for this week. He seems to be coming along but expecting any major contribution from SJax this week still seems like a stretch. Given his "contributions" when he was fully healthy this year, I wouldn't expect much from a gimpy SJax

Avernus
I read wednesday's report.... I'm curious what his status will be after today...if he's practiced at all.. Edited October 18, 2007 by Avernus
twiley
I saw some film last night of him practicing with a red jersey yesterday but the earliest they were saying is Cleveland - Week 8. On Wednesday, Linehan all but ruled Jackson out of Sunday's game in Seattle. "It's a real outside chance," Linehan said, that Jackson plays against the Seahawks. satelliteoflovegm
I have done well without him and hope he waits a bit. If he starts I will be tempted to start him and he will probably do little or leave the game early. I will take a fully healthy Marshawn Lynch and Kevin Jones over an iffy guessing game with Steven Jackson.
Gdawg
Priority News states that he turned it up a bit today... Could he SERIOUSLY be back this week? Edited October 19, 2007 by Gdawg
Chadman
Interesting to note that Linehan really tore into the team yesterday, calling out players and attitudes. Now, Jackson turning it up a little, the center says he's gonna man up and play, they signed Travis Taylor - sounds like to me they are circling the wagons and trying to make a stand? Interesting to think it could all be possible in such a dismal season. From the paper blog: Blog Zone > Around The Horns > Blog Entry Jackson edges even closer to return By Bill Coats 10/18/2007 3:22 pm Steven Jackson is making a spirited run at playing Sunday in Seattle. Jackson did limited work Wednesday in his first practice since suffering a partially torn groin muscle Sept. 23 at Tampa Bay. On Thursday, he turned up the jets further. “He did a little bit more. Not a whole lot more, but he did a little bit,” coach Scott Linehan said. Asked whether he thought Jackson could be ready for the Seahawks, Linehan said, “We’ll see. He’s not out.” Still, Jackson would have to be considered a long shot, especially since Linehan doesn’t plan to ease him back into action. “We wouldn’t play him just to be a depth player,” Linehan said. “He’d be in there as our back if we played him.” *** It was mildly surprising to see center Brett Romberg, who sprained an ankle Sunday at Baltimore, back at practice Thursday. Romberg sat out Wednesday, and it looked as if he might miss a couple of games. “It’s kind of like a pride thing, I guess. I’ve got four other guys out there busting their tails for me. I just think the least I can do is give them all I’ve got,” Romberg explained. “I’ve always been a big believer in, if you’ve got any ounce of energy and can play at all, you’d better be out there playing.” Asked if he’d be in the lineup Sunday, Romberg said, “Yeah, definitely. I’m definitely going to play.”

Chadman
New Priority News report says: There was hope earlier in the day that Jackson may be able to play against Seattle, but HC Scott Linehan quelled any doubt when he declared Jackson out for Week 7. Huddle Up: The beat goes on. Brian Leonard will once again play in Jackson's place. Jackson is close to returning, however, according to Linehan, and could be back in Week 8. Not sure when this happened, but sounds final. Sorry, I keep having these prayer moments of getting Gore and Jackson back together this season and having fun again in fantasy football...(not that that will guarantee fun, but you get the idea.) Savage Beatings
I don't know if I like this development. Linehan wanting to keep his job pushes an injured player to perform before he is ready... potentially risking his longer-term value. I'd rather have Jackson on my bench another 2 weeks, than to have him rushed back only to break down again right away.

Yeah the season is lost but SJax and the rest of StL, along with Linehan, are still grown men with at least an ounce of pride. If they play hard down the stretch and get a few Ws then it looks good for everyone involved. Yeah the Rams stink right now but they don't strike me as a completely miserable organization like the '06 Raiders.
