TitansFan
A source inside the Detroit Lions organization told NFL.com’s Thomas George that neither the team nor QB Matthew Stafford believe any differences in contract talks will stop the Georgia quarterback from becoming the No. 1 overall pick in Saturday’s draft. Hmm.
Chief Dick
If anyone could screw this up it would be the Lions.
matt770
If anyone could screw this up it would be the Lions. They now have the #20, 33, 65 and 82 picks to go, so they could certainly snag some good players if they have a clue. Solidify the o-line and defense, then maybe take another QB in the last round to be a punching bag this season, then let Stafford start next season after getting all the kinks ironed out. muck
Do you think Curry is bummed or thankful?
BeeR
lol @ Lions. Anything is possible but IMO Stafford has bust written all over him.
Savage Beatings
You can take off the question mark now. He is signed. $11 Million more than Jake Long. Wow!
Randall
You can take off the question mark now. He is signed. $11 Million more than Jake Long. Wow! And Curry said he would take less than Long.
Randall
Seriously bummed. He now gets to make less money and play for the Chiefs. Doesn't get much worse than that. The Chiefs are worse than the Raiders? For fantasy Curry going to KC would be better but will he now?

muck
IIRC, Matt Ryan was MANY millions more than Long ... so, it looks like DET cut a pretty good deal (if my memory is right on Ryan) in signing their annual bust. PS - If my memory is right about Ryan, does this lessen the cost for other teams to trade into the top of the draft? If I was sitting there at 13 (or whereever) and trying to decide if I want to jump up, knowing where DET set the curve is VERY helpful info. Skilly
I think this is a good thing for the Lions. Stafford is a good kid, and a talented qb who will do just fine--however, I do think they should let him sit a year. New coach, new qb---it's all good in Detroit. Taking Curry #1 overall would have been a disaster, IMO. A linebacker is not worth that much at that spot---I just don't think the value is that good there. A qb or a stud OL is the smartest choice with that pick.
The Vatican Hitsquad
The Chiefs are worse than the Raiders. fixed.
