He will probably lose goal line carries to Duckett, and it is also possible he would lose 3rd down duties to Forsett. Does anybody see Jones at, say, a 1200 yard level? Or is he pretty much destined to fail? The line hasn't been improved much, but Walter Jones seems to be getting healthier. A healthy Hasselbeck should help Jones get some space. Any thoughts? I was shocked when SEA did not acquire another RB - shocked I say! I can only guess that when rebuilding a team will take more than a year, they usually wait on a RB since they have a short shelf life anyway. Someone has to run the ball there, assumedly, and it will be primarily Jones but it is really, really hard to get excited about JJ when his first season in SEA only had 760 total yards and two TDs. I was too. I really wanted them to trade up a few spots for Beanie. I don't really see how the Seahawks can expect to compete with Jones/Duckett. The thing is, by all accounts, this team is not rebuilding. If they were, they would have taken Sanchez or a tackle. Somebody truly believes Jones can help us win right now. It could be a long year. His benching was provoked by the incident where Jones was standing behind Holmgren and yelling obscenities for being taken out in the red zone in a game pretty early in the season (somewhere between week 5-7). He didn't really get a steady dose again. Instead, Holmgren opted to give as many touches as he could to Mo Morris, who was always a favorite of Holmgren. It was entirely a Holmgren decision. I'd take him as my #4 RB and anticipate rushing yardage just shy of 1,000 yards and about mid-20's in catches and another 200+ yards to go along with about a handful of TDs. forever in debt to mo lewis Posted July 11, 2009 Share Posted July 11, 2009 (edited) i like the way things are shaping up for this guy this year....like him more than just as #4 back(i dont think hell last that long in most drafts)...maybe its cause im a nd fan...and the fact that i had him for the 2nd half of his rookie year in dallas where he won some games for me but hes still relatively young....and as of right now they havent added anyone else special to the mix....as DMD pointed out...he has a nice schedule....and if hasselbeck can manage to stay healthy...he has some weapons there with housh, branch( who i think may be a nice value), and carlson....all of this really hinges on the health of hass....i really think he can have a nice bounce back year like his brother did last year(i drafted thomas in the 3rd round last year in my main league)....although i dont like the seahawks line as much as the jets.... by the way...i really thought donald brown woulda been a real nice fit in seattle Edited July 11, 2009 by forever in debt to mo lewis Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The thing is, by all accounts, this team is not rebuilding. Do NFL teams really rebuild anymore? I don't think signing 32 year old Housh to a big deal is what teams in rebuild mode do. I can almost guarantee you with the plethora of injuries last year, the Hawks organization expects to compete for a division title this year. I think there is a very good chance that the Hawks will get a shot at the best RB in the 2010 draft, with the pick they got from Denver. You know, the easy run schedule is kind of compelling. I agree, "kinda weird". ...but refreshing to see a whiny brat get slapped back for a change. No way is the ever-unrealiable Jones worth more than a late round/auction min. bid flyer, but as that I'd be OK having him around vs some 2d/3d stringer who likely won't see the light of day, and only because he's bound to see some touches. Best case scenario is that the Hasselbeck and Walter Jones play well this year, and the Hawks get the luxury of being able to add Taylor Mays and CJ Spiller in the draft. What I think is more likely is that the Hawks have a somewhat subpar season, and are forced to take a QB and LT with the two possible top-ten picks. That is rebuilding. To date, Spiller is the only back that projects into the first round, although I'm sure there will be a guy or two that breaks out with a good season and vault themselves into the first round. The Hawks are also probably going to be in the market for a young WR early in next year's draft. Based off of the depth at the position the last two years, I would hope the Seahawks can still add a quality back in the second round, but this year's crop of backs just doesn't seem to be nearly as deep as the past two. As for Dunn, I'm very surprised the Seahawks didn't make a play. Even at his age, I think he could be very valuable to this team in place of Jones, and would be a pretty big upgrade at the position. I honestly don't see how the Hawks can be competetive this season with Jones in the backfield, and Russell/Grant at safety. I can't recall a playoff caliber team being that poor at those positions.
