SecondString
I play in 3 ESPN leagues, and I have a gripe about the scoring system. Would like to hear about other FF host sites to see if this is the case in those systems. If a defense scores a TD, obviously that defense gets points for that. My issue is that with ESPN, those points count against the other defense as points scored against them...even though that defense wasn't even on the field for the play! It's happened to me many times, but a perfect example is this past weekend. I had the Broncos D on a bye, and picked up the Bills D because I projected that the Chiefs offense would do nothing. I was right. But the Chiefs defense scored two TD's. Those TD's counted against the Bills defense, even though they had nothing to do with allowing those scores. I am prepared to write my congressman about this!!
MikesVikes
Do you play in a league with friends or did you sign up to be placed in a league? You can customize this scoring in myfantasyleague.com. I play in leagues that do it both ways. It's probably not a big enough issue for me for a congressional hearing but it could be for the next guy.
SecondString
These leagues are with friends, one has been in effect since 2005. Two more leagues have spawned from the original, would be tough to switch host providers. I was just curious to hear if this same type of scoring glitch was the case with other providers. I've heard good things about MFL, but it would probably take more than this one issue to get this league to switch. I guess my point is that this is such an obvious flaw in the system, seems like ESPN would correct it.
darin3
So should they take away points that result from field goals, too? Cuz technically FG units are special teams, right?
SecondString
The defense allowed them to get in FG range.
darin3
The defense allowed them to get in FG range. So? They didn't give up the points, the special teams did.
SecondString
So? They didn't give up the points, the special teams did. So? There's a big difference between the two. In the case of the FG, the defense that you posted on your roster was involved in giving up points to the other team. In the case of the other teams's defense scoring on the offense, the team you posted on your fantasy roster had nothing to do with it. Big difference! Big John
In MFL, you can change the setting to defensive points allowed to address this situation.
stethant
Exceptionally weak. Under no circumstances should that count against your defense. Of course, playing on ESPN I'm not sure you have much ground to stand on...
BA Baracus
This is not a customizable feature on ESPN. I have bitched at them for years to no avail. Their answer is "have the commish manually adjust the scoring". They are trucking a holes and morons. The problem is that we have 5 years of league history there, so its not like we are going to move to another site.

BA Baracus
RT Sports allows for proper D/ST scoring. Keep complaining to ESPN and they may add it as a customizable feature. I send them an email every season.
ajh2
Yahoo does it the way you suggest SecondString.
