Atlanta Cracker:

and then you wake up and realize you couldn't even beat Georgia Tech last year...

Man! What is it with my luck and Atlanta teams!!! By the way, what position do you see the water boy and team manager taking since GT may have to suit them up. When will GT get the summer school results back for the players that are in it to attempt to be eligible, or did they get the Clarett exam? Are you a Dawg or Ramblin Wreck?

snoop-a-loop:

Everyone knows that the REAL ACC rivalry will be Miami - FSU. No on cares about NC State and I am sorry if you really believe they have a shot because they don't. The future ACC will be decided by Miami, VA Tech, and FSU. NC State won't eve be in the picture.

You obviously don't go to deep in your college football knowledge. You must think VT been a power house for decades-wrong, try 5 years. Beamer got kids to believe and built a program. The exact same thing that Amato is doing at N.C.State. Here is a short history lesson-#1 ranked recruiting class in ACC-N.C. State, #3 National recruiting class N.C.State(ahead of VT and FSU), only team with more team speed than N.C.State-Miami(see Athlon, SI,Sporting News, Street and Smiths to name a few), so you might want to do a little research before spouting off. Oh, and by the way, we've beaten FSU two years in a row. The highest N.C.State is ranked in any preseason poll is 14th(ahead of FSU and VT). We just spent 30 millon on upgrades to Carter Finely-hence"you build it they will come." I would suggest you study the study the college football landscape a little more closer before making statements about a team you obviously know nothing about.

Hey, only time will tell, but in these neck of the woods, thats the reality. Papa Bowden told FSU boosters, ACC fans and Alumni, and the nation that Amato would totally turn the program around, and he has done just that in 4 years. He also said the same about Georgia, and look what Richt has done there between the hedges. So, just wait and watch as the season progresses, as I will. I just don't understand the mind set of some people? Why do you think Oklahoma, Miami,FSU and the like are as good as they are...because top recriuts sign and play there, those players are not walk on's you know. Amato himself is known as one of the best recruiters in college ball. Who do you think brought the talent to FSU(Amato was Asst. Head Coach there and there top recruiter, for those who did not know), couple that with Doc. Holliday (formerly at WV, and considered one of the best or the best recriuter in the land)is on Amato's staff. In order to build a program you have to have top recriuts. Miami and FSU use to live in the cellar for those who did not know. A program in college football is built, they just don't choose a name, team colors and a mascot and "poof" your a national power. The addition of Miami and VT does not hurt recriuting for the rest of the ACC, it improves for all the top teir schools. The best kids in the nation are going to want to play in the ACC, and not just for VT (have you ever been to Blacksburg, Va. ?), MIami, and FSU. Amato is building, and building well, most kids will come to the leauge in order to play for or against the new teams. Also, don't be surprised if the 12th team is the Gators, who would like to be in the same conf. with Miami and FSU. The WolfPack will not decline to the additions of Miami and VT, the staff and the facilities are to good, and in case you did not know North Carolina is a one of the best places to live in the country, even if it's just for 4 years. Only good things going on in Raleigh NC, but we love the nay-sayers. See you in a BCS game.

Not a huge NC State fan, but they do look good.  Watch out for Pitt, playing with a bit of a chip on its shoulder.

Oh, yes, they will certainly challenge for the Big East, and I have not forgatten the waxing they laid on my then young Pack in the Tangerine Bowl 2 years ago. Good Luck!! Peace!!!

I predict a quality fourth place finish for the wolfpack.

Book your trip to the Seattle Bowl.

Then your assesment of football talent and the sport itself is very lacking. I don't take a skewed view of a team just because I don't like them. You should really learn a little more about college ball. The 4th place finisher goes to the Continental Tire Bowl, and the Seattle Bowl as of last year ceases to exsist. Your lack of common football knowledge about the ACC and it's bowl tie ins is rather pathetic. Find some other forum to troll out on if you can't even get certain facts about the ACC correct.

...this coming from someone who thinks that a) NC State will win the National Title; and :D NCST & UNC (or FSU) is the best rivalry in college footbal. LOL

...but you do take a skewed view if you like them. I don't dislike the Wolfpack - I actually do like watching them. However, I think that FSU, UMD & UVA will all finish ahead of them in the final standings - just like they did in 2002. I think as a conference the ACC is improving - all four teams improved (at least in my opinion), but I don't think the pack will jump any of those three in the standings.

Actually you are quite incorrect - because last year NCST finished 4th, but went to the Gator Bowl. You should check your facts before you criticize someone else's "knowledge".

My facts are always correct - but apparently my opinions are not well liked by you. Oh well. Try not to get so upset next time.

I'm not upset, and I owe you an apology, the Seattle bowl is alive and well. The ACC did lose a bowl because it decided to fold up shop. I thought it was the Seattle, but that is still on. However, the PAC10 has been replaced by the mountain west as far as the opponent. ACC did lose a bowl tie due to the plug being pulled?

Many State Fans, just like Panther here will be boo-hooing when Amato decides to take his show to greener pastures. Maybe this year, maybe next. bawling . But what gets me is that none of them seem to see it coming shrug I'm gonna love waking up to that morning edition.

If it makes you feel better, NC State vs. Miami was the Orange Bowl matchup in my recently completed season of NCAA 2004 for the PS2. Of course, it wasn't the championship game since I lost once with Miami, but its better than NC State will do in real life.

Spoken like a true Heel fan , but way off base, Amato wanted this job, he is at his alma mater, And the fact that N.C.State now has the finest football center in the entire nation. See gopack.com for a photo tour. He calls N.C.State "his university", Amato is not going anywhere, and if your greener pastures are Tallahassee-dream on. Face it, we have a coach that is exactly where he wants to be, plus with the facilities (all Chuck has to do is ask and he gets it),and the fact that NCSU is loaded finacially-got the money to keep'em for years, and his wife loves the area, also may be from Raleigh if I'm not mistaken. Wishful thinking Tarbaby-sorry your Amato clone(Bunting) is no Chuckem-But please, don't hate us because we are a top notch program-just hate us because we will own you for years to come. Good luck with Roy though-he will straighten the mess out that is now UNC B-Ball, so the ole,"wait till B-Ball season line", may actually mean something in a year or two!!!

Bring those Hokies into a real conference and your gonna see a lot of tears in Blacksburg.

thumbs_u Ain't that the truth!

No more Rutgers for Va Tech, but NC State wears the same colors so will replace them as the weak sister in the conference nicely. :P

I hope NC State and Phillip Rivers do well this year, as it will bolster my thinking that Norm Chow could duplicate that feat AGAIN in 2004 with the next Booty, John David at USC. Since he gave Rivers the shot as a freshman and put in that QB-friendly offense, Mr. Chow may end up being responsible for 3 Heisman's in a row: '02 (Palmer), '03 (Rivers) and '04 (Booty). Cool... cool_thu

Watch out southern US states, USC is recruting in your backyard...

ACC Title Hopes.........0-1 ain't how to get there

Heisman.........might make a nice consolation prize

Got to love those State kids, just when they think they are world beaters, they go and shoot themselves in the foot.
