Harry Demetiou was ejected from the casino and Negreanu, I think Hellmuth and others got blinded out, and asked for and got a full refund. shootout is when the winners of the tables advance to then face the other winners of their respective tables, so on. Whomever made this dumb decision (dumb = pissing off the best poker players in the world in the middle of the WSOP) should prolly be fired.
