Wolverines Fan
http://beta.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/ CADILLAC DONE? Posted by Mike Florio on January 22, 2008, 10:09 p.m. One of the rumors making the rounds in Mobile is that the career of Buccaneers running back Cadillac Williams could be over. Williams blew out a patellar tendon on September 30, during a game against the Panthers. If Williams can’t return, it’s another argument against using a high first-round pick on a running back. The financial investment is enormous, and the running back is always one play away from a serious, if not permanent, injury.
DMD
While he has never met the level of his first three games, it would be a shame if he has to hang it up because of injury.
Outshined
it's another argument against using a high first-round pick on a running back. The financial investment is enormous, and the running back is always one play away from a serious, if not permanent, injury. The financial investment is big for any position, but one would think the running back is less prone to being a bust or taking a long time to develop compared to other positions. If the running back can stay healthy, the team would be getting more their money up front...make sense?

Exactly what does Florio mean by saying this is another argument against using a high first-round pick on a running back?

Is there a way of measuring the "bust ratio" for top fifteen picks at each position?
peepinmofo
This news isnt new at all. When this injury first happened, there was talk about it being a career threatening injury...
twiley
Here's an email I got from a friend back in October...didn't really think much of it because I thought he was just name dropping until I read this thread.. Strange connection but my grandmothers (huge bucs fan at 89) best friends grandson works on the med staff for the bucs. Cad. williams life as an NFL RB is apparently over. Sad. He'll have surgery but his knee was totally destroyed. Edited January 23, 2008 by twiley
