Benjamin Moore stopped using lead way before many other companies.

They should have too. They know it was harmful.

How were we supposed to know idiots were going to let the paint flake off and then feed it to their kids?

It isn't just the kids, although they are most vulnerable. It's also the dust from sanding and touching it. Why don't you google lead paint and find out for yourself.

Can you back this up?

I'm rather involved in this situation, I should say no more in this forum ... probably shouldn't have even brought it up.

Ask them. They issued statements on lead and mercury too when it was reported being a danger. They stopped using both a long time before they were an issue. They issued press releases.

I'm involved too as I am a contractor that has to remove lead occassionally.

Try here.

Doing worry though. USG went down a ton too(over asbestos issues) until the Bush adm tried limiting judgements. I'll bet it will be back up soon. When it gets there sell.

"In 1968 Benjamin Moore removed lead as an

ingredient in our paint formulations, a decade before

legislation was passed banning lead in paint.

In 1970, Benjamin Moore eliminated mercury from its

products - two decades before the EPA banned the

use of mercury in interior latex paints.

Sherwin Williams demonstrated that it had ceased selling lead paint for interior residential use in 1955 and for exterior residential use in 1973
