TheDude
Apparently, my reading comprehension is sub-par, he is still ahead of Gado, but he is not the the DD replacement some of us had hoped for. BeeR
I'm not sure which is funnier: giving up on a guy 2 weeks into the season or thinking he could be another DD.
Ralph Furley
In order to be labeled a "bust", shouldn't we have had high expectations for that player in the first place?
jjpro11
to be honest, i really didnt expect much out of him anyways.. even if it is too early to write him off, i dont see him doing anything in the future either.. this is the houston texans we're talking about. that line is horrid. why anyone thought a backup rb could put up decent numbers behind that line is beyond me. Randall
In order to be labeled a "bust", shouldn't we have had high expectations for that player in the first place? Matt Leinart's a bust too then. He isn't starting either. He hasn't thrown a touchdown yet. Geez, man give it a little time. Dayne/Gado the starters? rattsass
I would hardly consider a player I drafted in the 10th round a bust. Players drafted around that area of the draft are hit or miss anyway, and are often the first to get traded in for waiver wire picks. But if you are strictly asking whether Lundy is worth hanging onto, it depends on your situation. I am going to wait it out with him for a few weeks myself. I don't see any of these guys sticking as "starter". I'm going to try to ride it out a week or two and see if Dayne doesn't flame out (yet again) or Gado fumble his way to the bench. Everyone is ready to pronounce Lundy dead, and if that is what you really think by all means drop him. Keep in mind he is a rookie. The team is struggling. Dayne offers them an experienced presence to help right the ship temporararily. But Lundy may very well re-appear, as I see it he is the only one possibly capable of emerging as anything special. Gut call. Edited September 23, 2006 by rattsass
TheDude
You guys are right, too soon to throw in the towel on him. I try to stick with RBs who catch and run which is why DDavis was so successful, but I don't think we'll see that style from any HOU RB. That's where I was trying to go with this. So, for me, Wali is out for now, i've picked up Betts on a hunch. Larry J Westbrook SJax R Brown C Taylor F Gore Barber (B Jacobs, Bush, Turner being the upcoming additions) all guys I have on my teams, I try to focus on that type of RB and have found that strategy to be unstoppable. ...just makin' conversation
Ruffian
The Dude abides. Lundy will get a chance because Ron Dayne is Ron Dayne.
Jimmy Neutron
I'd say being replaced in Week 3 by Ron Dayne qualifies as a bust.
The Waterboy
By the way, god bless the 1 in 14 CBS Sportsline users who are actually starting Ron Dayne at the moment. I'm rooting for you all.

You got a bye or injury, or need to fill a hole, you're not looking for him to blow-up just get those few points to keep you in it. Never know, he could surprise. Good luck. Seriously. Gut call. I agree with everything here. I took Lundy in the 10th round when I start making my "lottery picks". This is why I call 'em lottery picks. Sometimes they work out, but most of the time they don't. That's okay though. It beats taking proven stiffs with "name value" just to fill out my roster which is what several of my leaguemates were doing.
SLAYER
Folks we are talking Ron Dayne here. Let's be real Wali will get more chances.
rhino
Here's my take on the HOU RB situation: Week 1 : PHI Week 2 : IND Week 3 : WAS Week 4 : MIA Week 5 : bye Week 6 : DAL Week 7 : JAX What a tough schedule -- horrid line or not. The HOU RB (whoever it is) is not at the "stud level" where one would start him regardless of matchup. This is a baptism by fire. Wali Lundy, Ron Dayne, Samkon Gado -- it doesn't matter. Whoever the lucky RB is to win the "musical chairs" rotation after week 7, will begin to see some value. Week 8 : TEN 'nuf said.
