The Vatican Hitsquad
He was hired the weekend of the Pro Bowl. After every single other "hot" candidate was already hired/turned the Raiders down (for Alvious reasons)...
AtomicCEO
Besides, the Raiders couldn't possibly be worse next year than they were this year. Just wait... Al will sign Jake Plummer this offseason.
NAUgrad
Just wait... Al will sign Jake Plummer this offseason. I think Jake's headed to Houston this year. Maybe Bledsoe to the Raiders.

AtomicCEO
God forbid Vinny or Bledsoe are on an NFL roster next year. Who wins in a Aaron Brooks/Plummer QB controversy? Tough.

muck
Boomer Esiason was talking up Brian Schottenheimer (OC for the Jets) as a "young up and coming HC candidate" this morning. I wonder if he was given a HC shot at a young age in OAK if he'd take it...
kraftykraft
I still say that Art hasn't had a chance to put his team on the field, so he should be allowed to stay a year.
The Vatican Hitsquad
Don't derail our derailment of this thread with more talk of that!!!

As a Bronco fan, I also think that SD should go get Denny Green!
Tally
Art Shell was pretty damn good coach his first time around. His teams always won and he took OAK to the AFC championship game. Unfortunatly they ran up against the Bills in their prime and got spanked but based on what he has done in the past alone Shell deserves another year. OAK defense is solid, nobody can argue that. A few difference makers on the offense and this team could turn things around fast.
muck
You mean, like guys who've shown they can be difference makers in the past ... guys like Randy Moss, Jerry Porter and Lamont Jordan?
kraftykraft
You mean, like guys who've shown they can be difference makers in the past ... guys like Randy Moss, Jerry Porter and Lamont Jordan? I think Lamont Jordan is fine if he can get some blocking and stay healthy. Porter and Moss should be cut.
