untateve
Perch and I may play on thursday evening--if not, we have dreams of playing this weekend. and my third grade son beat two 5th graders today in his school's chess club.

untateve
Nice! If he keeps it up he'll be kicking your butt soon. That's his goal and he knows I won't let him win. The last time we played he allowed himself two takeback moves and asked for my help once. He was ahead in the game when the wind blew the pieces all over (we were camping and it was raining). skylive5
He was ahead in the game when the wind blew the pieces all over (we were camping and it was raining). So why didn't you just reset the pieces back to where they were? Oh, never mind... I just now saw the part where "he was ahead".... LOL

LOL we tried, but it wasn't possible. he had brought a cheap set and a wind gust came through and pretty much annihilated the game. we weren't writing down the moves, so it was done. Wow... there are so many things wrong with this..... Why haven't you bought him a really nice set? And something in a nice travel set? Why do you need to write the moves down? Why do you blame your failure to win the game on the wind? I dunno unta.... thought you were better than all that. :oldrazz:

And something in a nice travel set? he has a nice set...he chose to bring the cheap one cause we were camping Why do you need to write the moves down? I don't. I told him to start doing that to analyze his games so he can get better. I'm not good enough to memorize all the pieces on a chess board. Why do you blame your failure to win the game on the wind? My failure was not seeing the knight fork he set up that cost me my rook. I dunno unta.... thought you were better than all that. The Irish Doggy
I rarely use my queen so much. I was terrified the first few moves I brought her out that I had missed something.
untateve
I rarely use my queen so much. I was terrified the first few moves I brought her out that I had missed something. At move 12, I thought you might have gone c3-d5 and planted your knight at d5(instead of the queen) and then brought your knight on g3 and planted him at f5. Bringing out the queen kept it interesting for us in the audience (me and my kids).
The Irish Doggy
At move 12, I thought you might have gone c3-d5 and planted your knight at d5(instead of the queen) and then brought your knight on g3 and planted him at f5. Bringing out the queen kept it interesting for us in the audience (me and my kids). Yeah, I thought about that too, and it was certainly a safer move. My thinking went like this: I saw a lot of "fork" potentials by working the knights up the sides which I started to do next. Bishops were gone, so I didn't need as much support for my pawns which were in pretty good position to support themselves. If I kept the knights out of the middle, I had a lot of room for my queen to roam - and more escape routes if I missed something.
untateve
It would appear that there is a good chance that perch and I will play on sun evening, around 7:30 EST.
