Fatman
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writ...rson/index.html Former Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson, an almost certain top-10 pick in the first round of Saturday's NFL draft, re-injured his collarbone in the Sooners' loss in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Day -- an injury that has not been previously disclosed except to NFL teams. Peterson broke his collarbone on Oct. 14 against Iowa State and missed the rest of Oklahoma's regular season, returning for the first time in the bowl game against Boise State. Peterson made NFL teams aware of the re-injury at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. But at least two teams that SI.com spoke to acknowledged that Peterson's health was a consideration in their draft analysis. A high-level source on one team said the evaluation of his team's medical staff was that Peterson will require a surgical procedure, which would delay his availability at the start of training camp and perhaps longer. That team estimated Peterson would be sidelined after the procedure for "two or three months." That would likely mean Peterson would miss the entire offseason workouts of the team that drafted him and make him questionable for the early part of the preseason. "Because of him re-injuring it in the bowl game, it's not as far along as it should be, it's not healed," said a team executive. "He lost three months with the re-injury. The question is, will it be healed enough to take a hit. Or will he hurt it again, the way [ex-Detroit receiver Charles Rogers] kept doing. "It's not enough to take him off anyone's board, but it's a concern because of his straight-up running style. He has been a bit injury-prone and now you've got a situation where you're drafting damaged goods." A source on a second team stressed that Peterson's re-injury was a "minor" consideration in the grand scheme of things. "If we take, we take him because he's a good football player," the source said. "If it takes him time to heal, it takes him time. We're looking at his skills. But it's one of those things that everyone in the league knows about. He re-injured it in the Fiesta Bowl, but he kept playing." Peterson, the top-rated running back in the draft, is a candidate to go as high as No. 3 to Cleveland and is not expected, in any scenario, to last past No. 10 Houston. A comparison to charles rogers - that's a low blow. so which team executive. Houston? Buffalo?

NFL commish warns teams over leaks April 25, 2007 ASSOCIATED PRESS NEW YORK — NFL teams will be disciplined by commissioner Roger Goodell for leaking any confidential information from interviews with prospective players. Goodell sent memos to the 32 teams today warning them that all interviews should be considered confidential and clubs will be disciplined for conduct detrimental to the league if there are any leaks. The story was first reported by USA Today. A recent story in Pro Football Weekly identified Georgia Tech receiver Calvin Johnson, Clemson defensive end Gaines Adams and Louisville defensive tackle Amobi Okoye — three highly regarded prospects for Saturday’s draft — as admitting they experimented with Josh Gordon. That report cited unnamed club officials and said the information came from videotaped interviews at February’s NFL combine. Goodell also has asked for a review of interviewing procedures at the combine. He has not yet determined what sort of discipline will be implemented for leaked information. Fatman
So you think it's all overblown to get him to fall? Any merit to this injury? Three days before the draft, so teams don't have time to investigate fully after freaking out? Uh, yeah.

Bronco Billy
A high-level source on one team said the evaluation of his team's medical staff was that Peterson will require a surgical procedure, which would delay his availability at the start of training camp and perhaps longer. This can cost a team a mid-round draft pick in an upcoming draft if they get caught circulating this kind of stuff. I love the "high-level source" on an "un-named team" saying "his medical staff" has found a "physical issue" with a high level pick, just a couple of days before the draft takes place...Huh, but right up until now they decided that they've found something that was a serious issue but elected not to mention it, and will only do so anonymously at that... Then they find some idiot dupe (Don Banks of SI, for instance) to distribute it... Edited April 26, 2007 by Bronco Billy
Perchoutofwater
I have the 1.1 in one league (my team sucked) and the 1.2 in another (I won that league, and got the pick in a trade), and this makes me very, very happy. This more than likely means that Peterson might slip to a better team, and it also means he might be there for me to take with the 1.2.
