That being said, gts brings up a good point. Pools can be dangerous. When we moved into our house there was only a 4' cyclone fence around the back yard which contains a pool. I spent about $9,000 taking it down and putting up a 8' high wrought-iron like fence(it is actually aluminum, but looks like wrought-iron from a few feet away) around the back yard that is nearly impossible to climb. I also divided my back yard, with a shorter 4' high fence of the same material so that my kids could not go out my back door and get into the pool.
