Chavez
And Joe Horn was the #1 WR in the offense, getting the top corner, while Colston was unknown and covered by bums. Now Colston is getting the top corner, and he can't get open... Horn was injured and missed 6 games. Bush still splits out wide. I'd say Colston was the putative #1 down the stretch in NO last year. Not all D's are like this, but I believe the majority follow this line of thinking. Edited October 16, 2007 by NAUgrad

I'd say Colston was the putative #1 down the stretch in NO last year. Horn played the first 7 games of the season. This was when Colston did most of his damage. Horn only played in 3 games after week eight--this was when Colston stunk it up as the team's #1 WR. Here are the numbers during his fabled down the stretch run last year for weeks 9-17: 37 rec 461 yards 2 TD with 2 DNPs (ankle) That's 66 ypg and 2 TDs in seven games. The signs were there that he doesn't have #1 ability. Now you are seeing those manifest... Edited October 17, 2007 by ROYALWITCHEESE

The more Brees spreads the ball around wont that loosen up the coverage and open him up for bigger games in the future?
1st&punt
I drafted Colston as my #3 and was flying high at the draft. Since, I've benched him for A.davis and Northcutt I've been saying that since the summer. He is not a true #1 and needs someone to draw the coverage. Look for Lance Moore to have bigger games going forward...
ROYALWITCHEESE
The more Brees spreads the ball around wont that loosen up the coverage and open him up for bigger games in the future? Possibly. But if that is the case he is not a WR1. And as a #1 WR he is supposed to produce on a weekly basis, making it easier for his teammates... ReturnToSender
Easy games ahead, a bad running attack and defense, I am sticking it out with Colston, could be big second half.
Ursa Majoris
I don't remember a player going from so good to so useless (in FF terms) so quickly.
Chavez
I don't remember a player going from so good to so useless (in FF terms) so quickly. He and Lee Evans are pretty much neck-and-neck for that distinction - this year, at least.

rajncajn
If you watched the game you would have seen that Colston was open for two deep receptions, one possibly a TD & Brees completely missed him both times. There was another where he was thrown to in the end zone & the DB timed his jump perfectly to knock the ball away. Also on the 33 yd reception that was a short slant in which Colston showed that he's still playing with the power & speed that gave everyone such high hopes for him. Personally I think it's just a matter of him & Brees clicking again & I believe that's more a matter of Brees' inconsistency this year rather than anything Colston has done. If you all want to cut bait with him then be my guest, but I personally think that if you're patient enough he'll end up rewarding you down the stretch. Front Row
I dropped him yesterday to pick up a bye week filler, he was the least valuable player . He only lasted about 5 min. on the waiver wire, he will most likely break out with a good game now. Another good call If you all want to cut bait with him then be my guest, but I personally think that if you're patient enough he'll end up rewarding you down the stretch. I'm not so stupid as to drop him but I am having to sit him which wasn't part of the pre-season plan. I do think you're right about him coming around eventually.....at least, I hope so.
