cliaz
I have a very huge range in taste for movies. I tend to really like the odd ball movie like "The Jacket", "No Escape", and "The Island" to name a few. I really dug this one. I liked how it didn't really try to explain what the creature was or its motivation. When i finished watching the movie (a whole 1 hour and 15 minutes long) i watched all of the extra features. It explain that the creature was an infant which was lost and confused. They took the angle of a lost and frighten, wild animal - which explains its terror screams. I thought it was well done - though a rip off of both the Blair Witch (another one of my favs) and Godzilla. I give it a B.

darin3
I thought it was well done - though a rip off of both the Blair Witch (another one of my favs) and Godzilla. I don't think anyone associated with Cloverfield would deny that... they said plain and simple (in the special features, as I recall) that it was a movie, like Godzilla, about what would happen if a Godzilla-like creature were to attack an American city. I Like Soup
I just saw this the other night. It was better than I expected it reading what y'all said. Of course, the things mentioned by others about the believability, etc. of things happening in the movie are sometimes a little too much to take. But then again, it is a story of a 350ft monster running around spanking the US military and leveling NYC; so leave the realism filter at the door! I guess I liked it...even though from the start of the movie you know what is going to ultimately happen to the characters.
