Darin hasn't made a pick for me since the end of the vet draft buddy, when I couldn't get to a computer. I'm doing just fine thanks. :D

Look at the bright side. At least Whomper didn't call you ghey.

No worries bro, I like to try and fly under the radar

HUH??? What makes you think I won't be back next year? I'm only going all in 'cause its the first year of a start up lol. Trust me, my strat will change next year and beyond. That would be a pretty low thing to do IMO.

Good. I hope you do.

And make sure you finish in last place so I get a high rookie pick.

It's the least you can do.

Value is a relative term and I think that 45% of your cap you spent on a DB (rookie or not) pretty much assures that the word VALUE should not be used.

He paid $45 to acquire that pick

45% for a player at one of the deepest positions just doesn't scream value to me....and while he can "make it up" he won't ever truly make it up....just because RFAs will most likely be thin the first couple of years starting in yr 3 they will start to come on the market and then I think someone is going to be singing a different tune about VALUE

for some reason rookie drafts make people lose their minds when it comes to trading cash, picks and players.

All good points Keggerz. However, I still have $65 in my account. More than enough to safely bid on a RFA here and there. And to be honest, if I have to rely on the RFA market for my team to stay competitive, I'm in deep trouble. Knowing that I don't allows me some financial freedom.

My strat is alittle different, I'll grant you that, but its one that works for me. HOWEVER, he who refuses to learn from his mistakes...well you know the rest lol. BTW: Thanks again for the recommendation. Great bunch of guys here and the smack talk is nice and thick...just the way I like it.

Edited: I deleted some content that I deemed inappropriate. I certainly don't wanna turn this into a bragging post.

Just to clear this up, my $75 buy in for 2009 should arrive no later than next week.

The Larsen pick, while maybe a touch early, I like.

for some reason rookie drafts make people lose their minds when it comes to trading cash, picks and players.

Some people simply view player value very differently than you do. It doesn't mean they've lost their minds.

I'd rather load up on rookies in the start-up year of a dynasty or contract league than store cash available (obviously). There is a learning curve in the NFL, and aside from RB and sometimes LB, most are a year or longer for most players. That makes stashed rookies valuable assets for future years. A taxi squad loaded up with potential future impact players becomes more critical in the first 3 years than the FA pool, IMO. It allows young players to mature at their own pace without impacting a team's active roster requirements and becomes a private stockpile that a team can access as the players start living up to that potential. If an owner might have a pretty good eye for evaluating rookies, that private talent stash can pay off a lot more than any value that FA dollars have, without having to bid to acquire the players' services. And while future draft picks aren't on the roster yet and don't contribute to making a team better, the current crop of rookies is gaining actual experience while providing depth that doesn't affect the active roster.

In a start-up draft, you can have the FA cash, and you can have the future picks. Give me the more upper round rookie picks to load up my practice squad with, thanks. If a couple of those guys break through this year, all the better. But in 2 to 3 years when the current crop of rookies start maturing and I start losing some of my marginal initial vet picks due to short contracts, those are exactly the guys that I want filling the roster spaces - at no cost to my team other than assigning contract years after having the opportunity to watch them mature for 2 to 3 years - to hopefully maintain a competitive team for the first few years of the league. After that, and again hopefully without having to spend significant FA dollars to maintain my team, I'll have my FA purse built up when the players who are larger impact players entire the available player pool.

So spending $45 of FA money this year for a player who has the earmarks to be a stud at a position - like it looks like Flowers might have since he is superb at run support on the edge as well as being a solid cover corner - could be money very well spent for a player who could be a cornerstone D player for a team for 6 years or more, depending upon the contract assigned. The thing that surprises me a lot more than the $45 spent for the pick is that he went in the 2nd round, which is awfully high for a DB - but hey, player value is in the eye of the owner.

Pick 46.11:

I.D.P Freeley in New Jersey selected Harvey, Derrick JAC DE

He did it to me again. First Ryan Grant ad now Harvey.

I can throw Harvey into a deal if you know what I mean

I do. With Grant?

Harvey and Grant would make a tempting duo.

I am so attached to Grant I am considering him an appendage
