Big John
I thought the Senate was 51-49, dems-repubs? Either way, interesting stuff. The 51 includes Lieberman, who has been campaigning with McCain.
theeohiostate
This post is not about politics, but TV entertainment... Is anyone else going to watch the election results tonight. We're getting dinner, wine, and crashing on the couch to watch results. We're giddy with anticipation. Partly cuz Colorado has so many initiatives on the ballot and many are pretty extreme. We are really excited here as well. Issue 6 is on our ballot and for those who don't know what that is pertaining to Ohio voters, it is an amendment to allow a casino , which will be placed about 15 miles from my home. I am really hoping it gets passed, not for the gambling, but for our local economy. Some 10,000 jobs will be needed and that will really help all the small businesses in my area. Scooby
I voted for the prez of a different party than the last 2 elections I voted in. I was actually undecided until I walked in and voted today!

Czarina
I'm very grateful that my November ballot had only the "big" elections on it. President/Governor/Senate/Rep. I didn't vote for sheriff and all that stuff. I have no idea who they are. We have all our "real" politics like town budget and so forth in the spring time. Now that ballot takes forever to fill out. westvirginia
Dubya is a lot of things but clever and unique he is not. I don't know about that. How many chimps could get elected president twice? Surely that's a first.
ABearWithFurniture
Dubya is a lot of things but clever and unique he is not. It's more about how a lot of the Obama supporters get their panties all in knots when anybody calls him President Hussein, and yet don't think twice about calling Bush dubya... CaP'N GRuNGe
I know it can end in a 269-269 tie, but unless a 3rd party guy actually won a state's electoral votes, I don't think it's possible for one or the other NOT to get 270 unless a tie occurred. An interesting tidbit I heard on TV this morning - it if actually did end up in a tie, the House would vote on the President and with a Democratic House, it would be an Obama presidency, BUT, the Senate votes on the VP and right now they're 50-50 with the sitting VP casting the tie-breaking vote so a tie could conceivably mean an Obama-Palin Prez/Vice Prez slate. Not making it up - it's what one of the so-called experts said. I'm not sure about the VP, but the House gets one vote per state, so each congressional delegation has to come to an agreement on who to cast their state's vote for... My wife and I are fired up to watch. Fresh Market had grass fed ribeyes for 6.99/lb so I grabbed some. Gonna make some polenta and do steak florentine with a side of braised mushrooms and kale. Fire up a bottle of wine and settle in. It's cold and rainy so a perfect night to watch what should be a pretty exciting election in the state. Every major office has been a really tight race here in NC.

ABearWithFurniture
......Maybe t's because the name Hussein has more than a few negative connotations, and Dubya was a positive one created by his own people??? Well, that's my point...whether it started out as positive or not it's now become a term of derision for Geo used by his dissenters...and there's plenty of them as he's fairly deserving of quite a bit... But Obama will have his dissenters as well no matter how well or badly he performs...
