Kid Cid
So in addition to losing my job, I wake up this morning to find a carpet at the bottom of my stairs soaked. 3 hours and 1 wall later, I find that my outside faucet has sprung a leak and it's running back into the house. Plumber on the way but I can't fix this by myself. If it was just sheetrock and moulding, that's one thing, but I have to remove the heating registers in order to remove the last of the sheetrock back there. It was screwed and glued so it isn't coming out easy. On the bright side of things, at least I didn't have to take a day off from work to take down a wall, it was fun as hell to break something, and the wife wanted this room remodeled in the worst way. Kid Cid
Does your homeowner's insurance provide for sudden and accidental discharge of water? That's a good question, I'll have to check the policy. However, I know Ms Cid and she will want the room redone. Not something I can slide into the insurance deal. Thankfully, I do have some time on my hands right now.
brett21
Yea, I sale insurance and your home owners insureace should cover sudden bursts of pipes and any water damage that is caused from the sudden rush of water. Most policys exclude slow leaks over time but will cover a sudden leak or burst of water.

Worth a shot... and hey, now you have a chance to remodel the room.

If you have the coverage, at least take the check for the repairs and do the remodeling out of pocket. Call your agent and see if it's covered. TheShiznit
Does your homeowner's insurance provide for sudden and accidental discharge of water? It should cover pipes bursting....that is if it was cold enough....I don't write too much property and casualty anymore....but I do remember this coverage.
