Randall
When Clinton passed his first economic recovery bill he got zero republican votes too.
Jimmy Neutron
When Clinton passed his first economic recovery bill he got zero republican votes too. How did he pass it without republican votes? Didn't the GOP have a majority in both houses through Clinton's presidency?
detlef
Seems to me the GOP is playing this as they should be. If all this works out, they don't have a shot in hell til after 2012 regardless of whether they were on board or not and if this whole thing blows up, then they can stand back and say they told us so. Seems pretty cut and dry, especially considering it's not like everyone is ecstatic about the stimulus plan.

Big John
12. They lost Congress in 2006. And the Democrats had slim control of the Senate in 2001-02 when Jim Jeffords switched from a Republican to an Independent in 2001.
