Except that the General Welfare is referenced in the preamble, not in the articles...the articles define what the branches of government may do. If it's not in there, they shouldn;t be doing it even if they are trying to sell "general welfare", of which they try to sell too much IMO. We the People of the United States, in Order toform a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common Defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this CONSTITUTION for the United States of America. Except the level of spending is sheer lunacy. More than $100 billion more than the entire rest of the planet? It's long past time this sacred cow took it's turn in the slaughterhouse.
