Ursa Majoris
In the longer run, Obama's proposals could actively damage the US' economic interests, argue the Business Round Table. “Ninety-five percent of the world's consumers live outside the United States, making international growth key to US companies’ success," the organisation said. "When US companies expand abroad, America’s exports go up and America’s workers gain access to more and better paying jobs at home. "This proposal would reduce companies’ ability to compete abroad, cutting off these benefits to US workers.” Self-serving piffle. Translation: Our executives will lose the ability to hide a boatload of cash and have to pay for the benefits they get from being US companies in the future. You can't convince me that giving tax breaks to those who export jobs is good policy. Maybe the Irish workers spend on US products; maybe not. Employee a US citizen here at home and you KNOW he/she is spending money here. Thus, if we're going to give tax breaks to anyone it should be for those creating new jobs for US taxpayers. Besides, special exemptions from taxation are a matter of legislative grace: not an entitlement.

Given the circumstances, Obama shouldn't be blocking tax breaks for job exporters. If we would have voted for a third party, every appointee would be as pure as the driven snow and everything would be simplistically magical. Only then, can we put things into the proper perspective. bpwallace49
They already pay taxes. Really? So the whole point about enforcing the rules of the land and cracking down on companies that specifically use tax shelters and other countries as "home bases" to get out of paying taxes is all just an elaborate hoax by the govt and none of this really happens? These companies are making places like Bermuda and the cayman islands their "post office drop box" corporate headquarters is all just a huge lie? Wow! That is great to know! Apparently this all all just an urban legend! Someone tell Obama, quick!
driveby
The U.S. government is pouring billions into General Motors in hopes of reviving the domestic economy, but when the automaker completes its restructuring plan, many of the company's new jobs will be filled by workers overseas. hopenchange
