Rebellab
Ok, I have been reading what people have on their MP3 players, and I don't have one. The wife wants one, but I have no idea where to start. I know I-pods were all the rage, but what is a good unit to use for music? I have a surround sound system that I can hook it up to, but no dock for it. The next question is with all the music some of you have on your units, do you pay for all of it? What do you use?
skylive5
I have a Phillips 5 gig. Bought it instead of an ipod when I give all the grandkids ipods for Christmas a few years back. Never have had a problem with mine... they have with the ipod. I have paid for all the music I have on my player. Converted it from LPs, cassettes, 45s, etc.
westvirginia
I use my phone because I don't want to carry multiple gadgets on the bike. I did invest in a $50 set of earbuds, but I've been pretty happy with mine. Most of my music has been purchased online or my CD collection, what hasn't has come from other folks CD's. ETA: I wouldn't spend so much on the ipod, frankly. IMO, I think there are better options out there. CaP'N GRuNGe
iPod nano 16GB is what I use. It's pretty nice for music, podcasts, etc on the go. And it's tiny but you can watch video on it with a pretty decent picture. There are tons of docking stations, car kits, etc you can buy for these things. TimC
Don't be a sheep. My Sony Walkman works pretty good and I have a lifetime supply of cassettes.
Rebellab
Don't be a sheep. My Sony Walkman works pretty good and I have a lifetime supply of cassettes. After pricing I pods, I may just go find the old sony discman. Holy poopy they are expensive for someone like me that doesn't need all that memory. 1000 songs, come on. Square
iPod for sure. Billions of accessories and everything you want at a good price. Ipods are typically higher priced than the other options. It's up to the OP if the features / aesthetics are worth it but I don't think price point is their strong point.
smithkt
Sandisk, Creative Labs, iRiver, Cowon All make good players with features similar to the iPods and have lower prices.
Rebellab
You look at a iPod shuffle ? I was at Best Buy, and was looking around and no one would help me so I didn't see a shuffle, but there was one that was missing, I am assuming sold out. To the internet for some shopping today.
