If only politicians would tell the truth and 98% of Americans weren't the biggest dumbasses ever created.

Basically when they talk "stimulus", the truth is they are spending a trillion dollars today and will worry about it in 10-20 years...at best.

Your grandparents fought WWII and sacrificed so you would have freedom.

Fast forward to today's generation and you are bankrupting your children so you can have that flashy house and cell phone with all the fancy buttons.

Everyone should be ashamed. Instead, the 98% of American dumbasses simply lie on the ground like the sheep they are.

when it's all said and done, it looks like the baby boomer generation viewed as a whole will have taken very much and given very little, relatively speaking.

here's an idea......lets cut off ss, medicaid, and everything else for the boomers. if their children want to help them, good. if not, good. unless they were a veteran, then they should be taken care of for life.

I love this idea. I've said for a long time, that SS in it's current form should be done away with completely. It should only be used to provide for those that either mentally or physically were unable to provide for themselves throughout the majority of their lives. Medicaid and Medicare should be done away with as well, as they continue to pay only a portion of what they should to doctors and medical facilities. This in turn cause the medical facilities to jack up their prices to paying customers, thus making our insurance premiums higher and causing even more people to "require" assistance.

If the government is going to provide health care, provide it as catastrophic insurance, not so that you only have a $10 copay at the doctor's office and a $5 copay at the pharmacy.

You whine about the selfishness of people but when it comes to wanting yours, there you are at the front of the line.

I'll gladly forgo any SS that I might be entitled too, if the government will kindly stop taking it out of my pay check right now.

And you b!tch about his selfishness but not the selfishness of those who make such poor decisions they save nothing for old age. Why retire if you can't afford to? Why should I have to pay for someone who made lousy decisions in their life to sit on their ass doing nothing? It's one thing for someone truly handicapped, but a healthy, sane person should not have that option.

They keep working. So everyone has a "right" at age 62.5 now to sit on thier ass for the remainder of their life?

they are skrewed. the only reason i had kids is so i can retire early and live in the in-law suite!!!

I propose raising that age to 67 at least. Even this would be much more than the life expectancy for SS claimants when the system was envisaged. And if you think SS enables you to sit on your ass, you should take a look at the monthly payments.

Modifying the system properly would reduce the payments people make throughout their working lives.

Do you guys truly believe that all recipients of SS are just

who made lousy decisions in their life to sit on their ass doing nothing?
???

You guys are very fond of quoting extreme examples of abuses of the system versus it helping people that actually need the assistance.

It is the same blustering hyperbole that you portray with welfare recipients all driving tricked out cars and refusing to work versus the family that has recently lost their jobs/ had finacial hardship and has to live in a shelter/ receive food stamps.

But then again . . . talking about helping people doesnt sell advertisements for Rush Limbaugh, so lets focus on the negative exceptions . . . lol.

Now social security is starting to pay for itself.

OK, so now our workforce has grown tremendously, but not our job base. You've just pulled millions of people off SS and put them right back on unemployment insurance. You've also lowered everybody's wages because of the larger workforce.

I don't think you'll win re-election.

The dirty little secret no one talks about and the fact of the matter is Democrats that voted for Obama hate their children and grandchildren. They are simply passing off having that big house, shiny car and everything paid for them without earning it by passing it off to future generations. I think children should immediately rise up and kill their parents. It's really the only way.

I get so tired of these handouts and bailouts and simply putting off the bill until after you're dead naturally. You people should be ashamed. Why do you hate your kids so much? When you wake up in the middle of the night tonight and your sweet little 3-year old is hovering over you with a butcher knife, it'll be too late to be sorry for what you've done to them. And Obama won't be there to save you either.

My four-year-old is a much harder worker than me. Just sayin'.

Dude, you REALLY need a lesson in reading comprehension. Nowhere did I say all. In fact, my response was SPECIFICALLY to ursa's comment that SS should be means tested. I even pointed out that if it was for people not physically or mentally healthy and that was the rule, rather than the exception, it'd be OK w/me.

This is the same blustering hyperbole with which you portray any libertarian as heartless and cruel, living in a mountain compound in Idaho.

But then, talking about helping people doesn't sell Al Gore's BS book or Al Franken's hyperbolic putrescent celluloid "expose", so let's focus on the crazies and paint them as the entirety of people interested in civil and human rights as opposed to the loving, cuddly statists.

Then you qualify on BOTH counts! How self serving of you . . . .

I've actually come to expect better of you. Your arguments, though statist and socialist in nature appear to have usually had some thought behind them. What's wrong, your big sister go back to college and leave you popping your zits and praying for the day your braces come off?
