WaterMan
They just like all the other big name companies. Rush out the product and hope you don't get sued when it kills people.
AtomicCEO
My wife had a Mercury that needed new brakes every time it needed an oil change. She took it to the dealer and they said "Yeah... that's pretty common with this model." I don't remember the recall on those. I'd still buy a Toyota. Brentastic
It seems like Toyota is riding the hype. I've noticed restaurants sometimes do that - they build up a great reputation by making quality food. Then once they reach a level of sustainable profits, they cheapen the ingredients etc... drives me crazy if it's a place I like. Anyways, seems like Toyota might be doing the same thing. detlef
From what I understand, at least with regard to the Prius (and I'm by no means a Prius apologist because my wife and I checked them out at one point and thought they were lame as hell) that the breaks are sketchy in "severely slick road conditions" are still perform within Gov't standards but the recall was voluntary because it was not up to Toyota standards. Seems like a situation where a blood thirsty public wants to kick someone while they're down.

detlef
I know what you mean. Brings a tear to your eye, doesn't it? Well, to be honest, I've stayed away most of the day because I didn't want to embarrass myself and start to cry. There I said it.

westvirginia
I'm still waiting for Atomic to mass produce his electric car. Doesn't he do that every morning, right after breakfast, with the morning paper?
AtomicCEO
I'm still waiting for Atomic to mass produce his electric car. Our build cycle seems to be one car every 3 years. If I staff up, I can bring that number up to 2 cars every 6 years.
