Whiskey Pimp
NFL Network reporting Clark is done for the year ....so whose the TE to have in Indy?? Eldridge?? I think there are at least 3 Indy threads on this page talking about WR and TE backups in Indy.

MustOfBeenDrunk
I truly hope for the best for Clark ,, I have had him on my main dynasty roster for the last 4 years and he has always be one of the main pieces to the puzzle that helped me to the playoffs each of those years. That said with all the injuries my team had suffered early on in this season I was forced to trade him last week even knowing that I would be facing him in week 8 ,,,,, so get well soon Mr. Clark you helped me dodge another bullet even though you are no longer on my team. BeerLeagueQB
I offered (to the person that has Clark): Steve Smith (NYG) and Dustin Keller for Miles Austin. You guys think it's fair?

montster
I have never understood the concern people have over multiple threads? I don't have a problem with starting a new thread saying that Clark was put on IR. That's new info. But there are at least two other threads with plenty of useful info regarding which TE will attempt to replace Clark. It's easy enough to look. That's all. giantsfan
News: With TE Dallas Clark (hand/wrist) out for the season, TE Jacob Tamme will replace him in Week 8 when Indy comes off its bye and hosts Houston. "He can play in-line, he can play as a wide receiver, he can play in the slot," coach Jim Caldwell said Thursday. "He's a pretty versatile performer." Analysis: Tamme has six catches for 47 yards in his three-year NFL career and looked good this preseason when Clark went down. Sure, he's no Clark athletically, but Tamme might well see plenty of targets from Peyton Manning in the second half and is certainly worth adding in deeper formats if you need TE help. ttwarrior4
tamme did well in pre season, just had no room for him is all. He was drafted kind of high for a player that doesn't play. He would start for alot of teams

Brentastic
I'm not sure that Tamme is the right pickup. So far this season he has 0 catches while Eldridge has 3 for 23 yards. I know those stats aren't mind-blowing for Eldridge but if Tamme is the next best option wouldn't his stats reflect something? All I'm saying is it's too risky to drop anyone significant and pickup up either of the backup TEs.
giantsfan
I am no insider, but if Tamme is the Clark backup (meaning backup receiving TE) I think it would make sense that he has no stats. Clark is always in there catching passes. Eldridge meanwhile would have been on the field some with Clark as the blocking TE, thus he'd have a couple of catches when they let him roll off of his blocking duties. That's how I see it anyway. And Captain seems to agree, and he's a Colt insider, so I will defer to his knowledge on this subject.

I just added Tamme in a very deep 12 team league, we shall see what happens. If he puts up even a modicum of Clark's production he could be useful; IND does have some pretty friendly matchups with regard to the TE position in the weeks ahead. BeeR
I also imagine in most leagues their backup TE at least has nowhere near the upside of Tamme. He's worth a flyer.
STL Fan
Also, just my two cents, but when people say things like "Manning likes to throw to his tight ends" it always makes me laugh. Manning, like all great QB's, likes to throw to whoever is open. Dallas Clark gets a lot of balls not because there is a T and an E after his name on the roster, he gets them because he has great hands and he gets open. If his replacement can get open and win Manning's trust, he could be valuable. But if you think Manning will force the ball to him just because he's running Clark's regular routes, I think that's nuts. Is it just me? BeeR
No, that's a good point - Manning likes to throw to Clark, not simply "his tight ends," and anyone who thinks otherwise is clueless. Frankly I don't see Tamme doing much, but hopefully it'll at least be enough to keep Ds honest.

He may be great, but he's not going to get all of Clark's old targets just because he lines up in his spot. He's gonna have to earn them. But if he gets open, Manning won't deny him the ball the way Brady did to Moss. (Oops, did I type that out loud?)

But at the same time, not many TEs available on the waiver wire have the same upside of a receiving TE in a very prolific offense. And maybe defenses really dont care or see Tamme as a threat, because he ISNt Dallas Clark . . which would help his ability to get open . . loaf
TE Brody Eldridge, a rookie fifth-round pick with three career receptions, steps into a vital role with Dallas Clark out for the season. Eldridge was drafted as a blocking specialist who wasn't used much as a receiver in the Sooners' offense, catching just 13 passes during his career. He started at center against BYU last year before moving back to tight end for four games and then was at left guard for four games before his season ended due to an AC sprain. He was the No. 17-rated tight end prospect last year, according to NFLDraftScout.com ratings. However, he impressed the coaching staff with his receiving skills during offseason workouts, displaying the athleticism to get downfield quickly at 6-feet-5 and 265 pounds, and has been developing into a better receiver than initially thought. He caught four passes for 44 yards in the first two preseason games, and has slowly been incorporated into the offense more ever since. "I think he has a chance to be a good, solid football player," coach Jim Caldwell said after the second game of the season, when Eldridge saw his first extensive action. "He is tough. He's developing into a good in-line blocker, but he can also give you something in the pass game, as well. But he's young yet. The jury is still out. ... We'll see how he develops." Third-year veterans Tom Santi and Jacob Tamme are also on the roster, but neither has caught a pass this season. The team also re-signed Gijon Robinson, who was released Sept. 29. He caught nine passes for the team last season, while Tamme contributed three. Robinson and Tamme could be more involved in the passing game, but it has been Eldridge who the Colts have been developing during the first half of the season.(Yahoo!
