I'll be the first to admit that I don't know a whole lot about international relations, but I really don't understand the different ways that the US has handled the situations in Iran, Egypt, and now Libya. Why did we wait so long to support the peaceful demonstrators in Iran a year or so ago? Why did we back the somewhat more violent demonstrators in Egypt recently? Why have we pretty much sat on our hands with regard to Libya? I'm not buying in to the conspiracy theories that abound on the fringe right, but I really don't understand our actions or in some cases our lack there of. It seems as though we are letting France and Germany take the lead in Libya, and maybe that is the right thing to do, I don't know. Can someone with some understanding of this give me a reason as to why we have treated these three situations so differently?

I think the answer is that there is a bundle of things we don't and aren't really supposed to know. Consider office politics and think of how weird politics in some families are. Consider how weird if would be if you saw people interact the way they do, but didn't understand the underlying tension behind things. Should it be any surprise that politics between nations should be so hard to wrap your mind around? I don't mean this to be a cop out answer.

We might have been keeping somewhat quiet in Libya initially so we could try get our people out first. No sense getting all rhetorically axis of evil on a madman until you can get your innocent citizens out of the way. You want more hostages or something. I'm guessing we will act in some manner but as a part of NATO.

4 American hostages killed by pirates off Somalia

The deaths of the four travelers, all in their late 50s or 60s, appeared to underscore an increasingly brutal and aggressive shift by pirates in their treatment of hostages.

Killing hostages "has now become part of our rules," said a pirate who identified himself as Muse Abdi. He referred as a turning point to last week's sentencing of a pirate to 33 years in prison for the 2009 attack on the U.S. cargo vessel the Maersk Alabama - just two days before the hijacking.

"From now on, anyone who tries to rescue the hostages in our hands will only collect dead bodies," Abdi said. "It will never, ever happen that hostages are rescued and we are hauled to prison."

Farrakhan: Mideast uprisings will come to US

Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan predicted on Sunday that America faces imminent uprisings that mirror those in the Middle East.

“What you are looking at in Tunisia, in Egypt … Libya, in Bahrain … what you see happening there … you’d better prepare because it will be coming to your door,” Farrakhan said in a booming voice, thousands of followers cheering in his wake.

Farrakhan also called on President Barack Obama to allow protesters to march, urging the president not to attack innocent people when they do.

The controversial minster spoke to a packed house at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont as part of the 81st annual celebration of Saviours' Day, which marks the birth of the faith’s founder, W. Fard Muhammad.

The keynote address, titled “God will send saviours,” capped a weekend of workshops focused on health, preparing for natural disasters and unidentified flying objects. The Nation of Islam believes in a UFO called “the wheel” or “the Mother Plane.”

Farrakhan has described a 1985 religious experience in which he ascended into a flying saucer and heard the voice of Elijah Muhammad predicting historical events that came to pass.

For about four hours, Farrakhan spoke and jumped from topic to topic, citing religious texts.

He praised Scientology and its founder L. Ron Hubbard.

Farrakhan extolled the virtues of Scientology and its auditing process, which is considered spiritual counseling by its members.

“L. Ron Hubbard is so exceedingly valuable to every Caucasian person on this earth,” Farrakhan said.

“… L. Ron Hubbard himself was and is trying to civilize white people and make them better human beings and take away from them their reactive minds … Mr. Hubbard recognized that his people have to be civilized,” Farrakhan said to a cheering crowd.

I really think we need to pause for a minute and reflect on all of the good that the Nation of Islam has done for the African American community in America. The ideals extolled by this organization, faithfulness to one's family, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol abuse, charity and pride in one's community, have helped to break the cycle of violence in the lives of many African Americans and have helped improve many African American Communities in the US.

The values preached by Mr. Farakahn are the same as those that are embraced and held dear in many Christian communities throughout the US. The only difference being the God whom they worship.

What Farkahan extols is correct, we do have a day of reckoning coming. The christian religious right takes aim at the African American community in their rhetoric and policies, often in very uncivil tones. How much longer can a group remain in the throes of repression, bound, chained to the decaying and crumbling communities in which they are forced to toil and not rise up against the perceived and real repressors? Even a dog, cornered and beaten, will eventually bite it's master; at some point the burden, the wounds inflicted, become to burdensome, too encumbering, for any animal, much less a sentient and rational being, to tolerate.

So, yes, there very well could be an uprising in the US, a righteous and provoked uprising. So long as we continue to inflict wounds upon our fellow man, so long as the empowered establishment continues to tighten the chains of repression, so long as we ignore the will of God and our fellow man, our recompense will come. It will wash over this nation, cleansing us of our transgressions against our fellow man, our fellow citizens, our brothers and sisters. Though, it will carve a wide swath and leave many a mangled body in its wake. But, if that is what it takes for equality to reign, if we must endure this hardship to find commonality, then, then, it will have been a just and worthy uprising. An uprising to which we can look back and say that it was just and our current state and our future state is all the better for it.

Praise be Allah.

He sees it coming.

It won't be long.

More importantly it shall last forever.

About 6 minutes for the first one, this one took about 17 seconds.

ETA: You wanna take issue with any thing I have to say about the Dr. Farakahn (Peace be upon him.)

We would all be so lucky if that nutjob racist convinced himself and his immediate staff to drink some homemade lemonade and lye down in a row of bunkbeds.

U.S. assault ships clear Suez, enter Mediterranean

Reuters) - Two U.S. amphibious assault ships have reached the Mediterranean Sea, a U.S. official said on Wednesday, as Washington intensifies pressure on Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to end his four-decade rule.

The USS Ponce and the USS Kearsarge, assault ships that typically carry Marines, cleared the Suez Canal from the Red Sea and entered the Mediterranean, the official said on condition of anonymity.

The United States also has an aircraft carrier, the USS Enterprise, in the Red Sea but military officials have not said whether it will be sent to the Mediterranean.

The Obama administration has said all options are on the table to deal with the Libya crisis but the Pentagon may be reluctant to launch any new military action as it grapples with the costs of ongoing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Saudi police open fire during protest

CAIRO (AP) -- Saudi police opened fire Thursday to disperse a protest in the section where minority SHAM WOW!es live, leaving at least one man injured, as the government toughened its efforts to prevent a wave of unrest sweeping the Arab world from reaching the kingdom.

The rare violence raised concern about a crackdown ahead of planned protests after Friday prayers in different cities throughout the oil-rich kingdom. Violence there could reverberate through the world's markets because of the importance of Saudi oil exports.

China tests 'missile-defense system'...

China used a top-secret SC-19 anti-satellite (ASAT) missile in a test last year against a target missile as part of a missile-defense system that remains shrouded in secrecy.

The ASAT missile was fired against a new medium-range missile and details were disclosed in a State Department cable made public recently by WikiLeaks that included an outline of a diplomatic protest note to Beijing about both Chinese weapons programs.

The cable provides the first detailed U.S. assessment of what defense officials say is a major strategic advancement in China’s military buildup. It reveals that China’s anti-satellite system was developed for use not only against satellites but is part of a larger strategic missile-defense system.

President Obama’s Trivial Pursuits

by Keith Koffler on March 15, 2011, 12:10 pm

The Middle East is afire with rebellion, Japan is imploding from an earthquake, and the battle of the budget is on in the United States, but none of this seems to be deterring President Obama from a heavy schedule of childish distractions.

The newly installed tandem of White House Chief of Staff William Daley and Senior adviser David Plouffe were supposed to impart a new sense of discipline and purpose to the White House. Instead, they are permitting him to showcase himself as a poorly focused leader who has his priorities backward.

This morning, as Japan’s nuclear crisis enters a potentially catastrophic phase, we are told that Obama is videotaping his NCAA tournament picks and that we’ll be able to tune into ESPN Wednesday to find out who he likes.

Saturday, he made his 61st outing to the golf course as president, and got back to the White House with just enough time for a quick shower before heading out to party with Washington’s elite journalists at the annual Gridiron Dinner.

With various urgencies swirling about him, Saturday’s weekly videotaped presidential address focusing on “Women’s History Month” seemed bizarrely out of touch.

Obama Friday took time out to honor the 2009-10 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks. Thursday was a White House conference on bullying – not a bad idea perhaps, but not quite Leader of the Free World stuff either.

Obama appeared a little sleepy as he weighed in against the bullies, perhaps because he’d spent the night before partying with lawmakers as they took in a Chicago Bulls vs. Charlotte Bobcats game.

Meanwhile, the president has been studying for weeks whether to establish a No Fly Zone over Libya, delaying action while the point becomes increasingly moot as Qaddafi begins to defeat and slaughter his opponents. And lawmakers from both Parties are wondering why he seems to be AWOL in the deficit reduction debate.

The Libya indecision follows an inconsistent response to the protests that ousted former Egyptian President Mubarak and seemed to catch the White House off guard. The perfunctory response from the White House Monday to Saudi Arabia’s dispatch of troops to Bahrain suggested the administration wasn’t prepared for that one either.

But the fun stuff won’t end anytime soon. On Thursday, the Taoiseach of Ireland will be in town to help the president celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. And then Friday it’s off to Brazil for the start of a three-country Latin American tour.

Oddly, he’ll be missing Carnival, which went down last week.

how about you step away from the rapture-ready websiite and answer a couple questions there, scout.

What do you suggest Obama should do?

What do you suggest is his responsibility in all of this?

Are we going with Obama being the ant-christ in your whole fantasy?

Can you please define "not long"

If you are trying to enlighten others, than do it - otherwise you are just vomiting nonsense.

1 Corinthians 2:14

The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

But people who aren't spiritual can't receive these truths from God's Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can't understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.

2 Peter 3:8–9 reads:

‘But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.’

Me thinks you are looking for a Hollywood Antichrist. just look around and the answers are obvious.

The real question is : Is Obama doing Gods will?
