I found the Bears a new center

Dallas Cowboys Posted 8/30/11 12:46pm et

The Dallas Cowboys cut C Andre Gurode on Monday. Gurode is a 5-time Pro Bowler and was the longest tenured Cowboy on the roster.

Huddle Up: A surprise move, but Gurode did have a bloated salary that he refused to re-work and team officials were also peeved that he chose to have knee surgery so late in the offseason (June). The Cowboys will move ahead with C Phil Costa, a second-year man from Maryland. Costa has a sprained PCL but is expected to be ready for Week 1.

Don't know anything about this guy but he couldn't hurt our O-line.

Bears don't need any more new faces. Let Tice work with what he's got.

I disagree. I would like Garza moved from center back to guard, and if we could work this guy in by week 3,,, that would be fine with me.

But since the Bears have decided to go in to the season 19 MILLION under the cap, signing this guy on the cheap would make to much sense for our moron GM.

Is this after they cut Chester Taylor last weekend and this weekend? Cut a guy twice, and his cap number reduces twice as well...?

Can't disagree with Garza. That said, lot has been said about Tice and his coaching ability. IMO, I say let the guy do his thing. The guys have slowly improved, if he can stay with one rotation, one would think the experience would benefit all involved. The young guys have to get a chance and Tice, if he is the guru he is said to be, hopefully will make a difference.

Whoa, whoa... I was hoping the OP was simply joking since we already grabbed RoyWill and Barber off the Boys' scrap heap. Gourode is a waste of space and was cut by America's Team because he's a lazy, entitled moran. He wasn't pulling his weight (and trust me, he has plenty to spare) and is a liability. The Bears are better off finding a young, motivated kid. Just because you've been to a few Pro Bowls doesn't make you a de facto starter.

Gurode was realeased b/c he wouldn't take a pay cut after he had surgey on his knee in June, a sign that he would not be ready and a decision Gurode made himself, rather than let the Cowboys know about it and have the surgery in sooner, like in April

You're better off without signing a player that can't even practice
