SEC=UGA
A 34-year-old grandmother and her younger boyfriend are being sought by Georgia cops after the woman's grandson ingested cocaine and was taken to the hospital. Ebony Daniel and Charlie Martin, 22, are wanted on charges of possession of cocaine, cruelty to children in the first degree and reckless conduct, said Sgt. Lee Gragg of the Palmetto Police Department. Daniel's daughter, Andrica Daniel, 17, and her 13-month-old grandson had been staying with her "for about a week," Gragg said, when the boy ingested crack cocaine. The only thing I can say is the witnesses stated the crack was open in the room," Gragg said. He declined to go into further detail about how the baby came into contact with the drugs. On Saturday, the teenager took her son to Piedmont Newman Hospital. At 5 p.m., a hospital employee notified police that a child who had ingested drugs was in their care. The unidentified boy was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston where he tested positive for cocaine. Authorities are awaiting toxicology results to determine the amount of cocaine the boy ingested, Gragg said. The boy's mother is considered a witness and not a suspect, and continues to care for her son, Gragg said. A search warrant was carried out on the family's home Saturday evening. Gragg said police collected evidence but declined to say what was found in the home. Neighbors told Palmetto police that Daniel and Martin have not been seen in the area since Saturday night. matt770
Brings back fond memories of my grammy. She'd always rub some coke on my gums when I had a toothache.
DMD
You'd think a grandmother would be wiser than that. Did she learn nothing in her 34 years?
slambo
She probably has an awesome collection of roach clips with attached feathers.
stevegrab
You'd think a grandmother would be wiser than that. Did she learn nothing in her 34 years? Sure she learned how to have babies, and taught her daughter how to have babies. A new group every 15 years or so to keep the family growing. Recall a similar story not that long ago about a baby ingesting some meth, the "parents" were not only using the stuff but cooking it in the home. matt770
I can't believe this stuff happens in Atlanta. Atlanta is 100% black, so all the shootings are drug related. Everyone knows all the insane mass shooters/serial killers are middle-aged white guys who have trouble getting laid.

stevegrab
Here's a follow up on the local (Akron OH) story about people whose kid died from meth that he ate. http://www.ohio.com/news/break-news/police-desribe-drug-evidence-in-home-where-17-month-old-child-died-of-meth-poisoning-1.322455 The attorney for the POS mom who was living with 3 guys who were cooking meth, is trying to get her testimony to cops thrown out. Hopefully that doesn't stop from convicting her and locking her up.
