Wolverines Fan Posted December 5, 2012 Share Posted December 5, 2012 Per rotoworld: Vikings placed WR Percy Harvin on injured reserve with an ankle injury, ending his season. As beat writer Tom Pelissero opined on Twitter, that escalated quickly. Coach Leslie Frazier admitted Wednesday that Harvin may not play again this season, but it stood to reason the Vikings would give their second best player another week or two to heal up. The fact that they haven't is a strong indication he needs surgery after tearing a ligament in his left ankle in Week 9. The news leaves the Vikings embarrassingly thin at receiver, and coupled with Christian Ponder's frequently dismal performances, will place a massive load on the shoulders of Adrian Peterson as they fight to remain in the NFC Wild Card picture. This is the first time in Harvin's four-year career he's been placed on injured reserve. He had missed just three total games coming into 2012. Entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2013, Harvin's contract figures to be a point of emphasis for the Vikings in the offseason. Harvin is still only 24 years old. While it sounds like he may very well end up on IR hit hasn't been made official yet. I suspect that he will be listed in tomorrow's transactions. And don't get me wrong, I am not saying he isn't' headed for IR, just that it isn't official at the NFL office yet. What I cut and paste is directly from the NFL...the Vikings may have made the announcement that he is being placed on IR but it wasn't included in today's transactions which means it hasn't officially happened yet. Everyone is running with the "announcement"...all I have said from the get go is that it hasn't officially happened with the NFL yet...that is all. Keggerz is in denial. I've moved on to anger and bargaining, but it shouldn't be long until the depression phase Not an owner and don't care one way or the other...I just know that some leagues require a player to actually be on IR, and based on published NFL transactions that hasn't happened officially yet...I am sure it will be official tomorrow...and when it is I will post the transaction. EDIT: as an example the Lions have said that Jahvid Best won't play football this year, but they haven't moved him to IR yet (still on PUP) and probably aren't going to either. I was actually sequestered finishing up my projections and write-ups and had just check the transactions for the day when I took a quick break by coming here...so when I saw the post and knew it wasn't in the transactions was why I posted what I did.
