Team Archer
So I traded Cam and Forsett for Ryan and Stacy. Team in sig. I think Ryan will do better than Foles for the rest of the year and should be my new starting QB. For the owners that have Foles or Ryan or both, do you guys agree or believe Foles, along with the eagles offense will turn it up down the stretch or does Ryan have a better chance because of their schedule? darin3
I think it'll depend on matchup.
stethant
You're going to have to wait somewhere between weeks 8-10 to figure out how Foles will play down the stretch - that's when he may finally get an intact O-line. Between here and there, expect a bumpy ride. Schedule minus the bye should help.
Rebelarch86
Ryan is supposed to nose dive as his schedule gets worse.
sausagekingchi
I prefer Matt Ryan going forward. I think their schedules are similar enough to expect the better QB to produce better numbers.
Avernus
Sometimes looking at how defenses are ranked doesn't tell the whole story. Eagles and Falcons both have defenses that allow a bunch of points and sometimes a team with a great defense still allows a lot because they get caught in a shoot-out (see:Cousins vs Seattle)... I would look at the schedules a little closer and try to estimate which QB is most likely to get involved in more shootouts than the other. TonyBromo
I think Matt Ryan will be more valuable, mostly because PHI offense is predicated on running the ball while ATL throws a ton. The only thing with Ryan is how screwy Atlanta is away from home. The roll over people in the Georgia Dome but are a different team on the road
nelsosi
Philly offense has been pretty awful so far, and their defense has scored an inordinate number of TDs (stealing possessions and urgency from the offense). So it could be argued that we've effectively seen Foles' floor so far - I expect much better things as the season progresses.
sausagekingchi
The problem I have with Foles is he isn't playing particularly well right now. His mechanics are sloppy, particularly his foot work. Some of that has to do with the poor offensive line play, but there are plays where there is no pressure and he's still throwing it as if he is under duress. Those are bad habits and even once the o-line gets fixed doesn't mean he won't carry those bad habits with him.
nelsosi
I hear ya. But the converse is that IF some of the issues get corrected, he could quickly be top tier. This is a high octane offense that just isn't clicking right now - I'm not sure they could have been any worse than they've been so far. I'm not thrilled if I have to start him right now, but I'd love to stash him for cheap. Huge upside.
sausagekingchi
The Philly offense is reminding me of the Chicago offense in terms of how it has underachieved this year. Both offenses were new to the NFL last year and this year teams have a lot of tape on them and have had time to figure out how to disrupt their game plan. It's a strong possibility that Foles struggles are compounded by this. So you have a few things working against him: 1) bad/injured OL 2) sloppy footwork mechanics by Foles 3) defenses adjusting to their scheme That doesn't mean he can't turn it around, but it won't be easy and he isn't the only factor in things being turned around. That's why for me, Ryan is the guy to use this season if you had to pick one now to hang onto.
IrishPride
Ryan has a much better schedule, it's 50/50 road/home but his match-ups are much better. Ryan based on schedule not skill.

Shorttynaz
but he's not a sophomore...he has played in the last 3 seasons 3rd year slump - just as I said.. Edited October 11, 2014 by Shorttynaz
Avernus
3rd year slump - just as I said.. I actually disagree. The oline has been bad and we have been able to move the ball well outside the redzone. Play calling has been the issue as well as protection.
