Hat Trick
geez, this would bum me out big time! He was the guy I wanted on the coaching staff more than anyone this past year when I knew his fate was sealed at ND. I really hope this does not happen! untateve
...and why is Florida interested in Weis? Florida needs an offensive coordinator. This year's coordinator was just hired by Temple to be their head coach.
wolfer
cassel was progressing. this would be a step back for him. Unless Josh McDaniels replaces Weiss. Oh man could you imagine Haley and McDaniels trying to co-exist. Fingers will be a-pointing!
Jackass
looks like a done deal A person familiar with the decision says Florida Gators has hired former Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis as offensive coordinator. The person, who spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the move has not been formally announced, says it will made public Monday. Weis, hired at Notre Dame five years ago when Urban Meyer turned the Irish down to come to Gainesville, is currently the offensive coordinator for the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are headed to the playoffs, and Weis will remain with them throughout the postseason. Weis won't go on the road recruiting at least for a week, but he will be to call recruits. giantsfan
I'll add something else, isn't this a demotion for Weis? An NFL O coordinator or a college O coordinator. You tell me which carries more weight. Now $$$, maybe he will get more from money loaded Florida, but I would say this kills any hope of becoming an NFL HC. Maybe there is behind the scenes stuff at play here, OR Florida gave him the world, because I don't undertstand why a mainly NFL guy leaves an NFL coordinator job for one in college. rattsass
Makes me wonder if there is friction between the OC and the head coach or something. Seems really bizarre considering CW's success with the team. Kind of pisses me off that he would drop in for a year and then leave, especially to take a step down. And it REALLY pisses me off that his full attention and focus will not be on the team that is currently paying his massive cheeseburger bills. Unless he guides this Chiefs team to the AFC championship game he is officially on my chit list.

Seems really bizarre considering CW's success with the team. That is my point. Either Florida threw him the world and tons of cash and perks OR there are some behind the scenes issues in KC that no one knows of. Otherwise this makes no sense at all. Maybe Weis likes the college game better than the NFL?? The two have to be world's apart in terms of coaching. Maybe he just enjoys the college game??? Square
Maybe Weis likes the college game better than the NFL?? The two have to be world's apart in terms of coaching. Maybe he just enjoys the college game??? I'd rather be a college coach than an NFL coach. Call me weird but I think some programs have distinct advantages in the college game where the pros is more of a grind. That being said I consider Weis to be a good Xs and Os guy but I'm not positive that he is a strong leader of young men (something that I believe is required in college). The people that I knew at ND said he pretty much torked off everyone at one time or another. It'll be interesting to see how Florida plays out. Chief Dick
Makes me wonder if there is friction between the OC and the head coach or something. This is pretty much it I think. There have been several times this year when the camera pans to Haley after a weird play call and the look on his face is priceless.
