keggerz
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/new...e=ESPNHeadlines The New York Jets released Damien Woody on Thursday, the offensive tackle announced on his Twitter account. "Just informed about my release....I want to thank the Jets and all the fans out there...it was a great ride!" Woody tweeted. The Jets are planning to release three other players from their roster: outside linebacker Vernon Gholston, nose guard Kris Jenkins and 14-year veteran outside linebacker Jason Taylor, according to The New York Daily News. The moves will save the Jets over $20 million in salary and bonuses, creating space for free agent Santonio Holmes to be re-signed. Woody, a starter, played 45 games for the Jets over three season. He hurt his knee late last year, and was finally put on injured reserve with an Achilles injury. Gholston, a former sixth overall pick, never lived up to his potential. Jenkins had his past two seasons cut short with ACL tears. Per the report, some of the players could return at lower salaries. Bring Back Pat!!!
Has there been a bigger bust in recent memory than Ghoston? #6 overall pick. 3 seasons, 5 starts, 16 tackles,18 assists, zero sacks?

Bring Back Pat!!!
Jermarcus Russel at #1? Jamarcus Russell? Ok, so besides him? How about on defense?
bushwacked
Ok, so besides him? How about on defense? Probably not as the same level as Gholston, but after two seasons Aaron Curry looks to be every part of a major bust as a "can't miss" LB prospect. CaptainHook
So you're saying the Jets lost their Woody?
Duchess Jack
So you're saying the Jets lost their Woody? nah, Sanchez has seemed to pick things up right where Favre left them off
Bronco Billy
So you're saying the Jets lost their Woody? It was cut. Maybe they have hired on Lorena Bobbitt as their player personnel manager
SEC=UGA
DE Jamaal Anderson has been a pretty big bust for the Falcons.

Has Curry been that bad? Or is he just mediocre and not worth the cheese he got? I just remember when Detroit was considering taking him instead of Stafford (IIRC) and a lot of people were saying that he was such a sure fire stud that there was less risk in taking him at LB. I haven't paid that much attention to Seattle so I wasn't sure if he was playing well or not.
BearBroncos
Ok, so besides him? How about on defense? Ayers? ROFL.... I guess I'm just Mc D bitter still....

His stats are fairly pedestrian and not horrible. But he simply has not made but a handful of big plays in 2 full seasons now and often goes entire games without notice from the casual fan. The last play I remember of Curry was completely whiffing a tackle on a Jay Cutler TD run in the divisional playoff round.
BeeR
Yep Ghoston gets the nod for most recent D bust. Coryatt would be proud.

I know as IDP owners, we were all pissed they didn't put him at WLB, but from a conventional football standpoint - SLB's simply don't make big plays like you see from the MIKE or WILL spots.
