  1. Yep, Kendricks would have been a good choice, but he was taken in our rookie draft this year and stayed on someone's roster all year (we've got a big Rams fan in the league). Of the people I listed who are available, I was leaning towards Jaquizz Rodgers and Demarious Thomas. But have doubts if Rodgers would ever be more than a 3rd down specialist and if a long-term Tebow factor hurts Thomas's value. Full disclosure, I had drafted Vereen this year in our rookie draft, but dropped him mid-year when I needed roster space and Ridley was getting all the love as the sleeper in NE. The guy who drafted Ridley orignally also recently jettisoned him. No clue if either have potential in the NE RBBC.
  2. 12 team dynasty league, no-PPR, non-IDP...18 bench spots. Not in the playoffs this year, so looking at the free agent pool to see if there is some young talent that is worth stashing for next year or beyond. I have some bench depth that I can free up that won't be impactful to the teams still in the playoff hunt (bye-bye Ryan Grant and extra DEF). Has to be a player with 3 years or less experience. No QBs of note - literally they are all gone, even Gabbert. Best available RB/WR/TE are: Deji Karim Shane Vereen Stevan Ridley Jaquizz Rodgers Damian Willams (may get picked up this week anyway due to N Washington injury) DeMarious Thomas (may get picked up anyway this week since MIN forgot to cover him) Heyward-Bey Ed Dickson Jake Ballard Of these guys, who are do you think has the best shot of becoming a future contributor? Is there another sleeper out there that I should be looking for? TIA
  3. If I can hijack the thread, I've got a question. We've got a 6 1/2-month old Havanese puppy. Great little dog, well behaved, learns quickly, and has never met a person or dog that he didn't like. But he seems to have pretty bad separation anxiety. My wife works from home, so she is with him all day. She can't move from one chair to another in the same room without him following her to see where she is going. We call it his "shadow dog syndrome". If you get up from the couch to go get a drink, he'll follow you. If we go into another part of the house that he doesn't have access to yet, he'll just sit at the gate and whine/bark. When we leave for a few hours to go somewhere, like out to dinner, he'll stand at the door and bark continually. He doesn't touch his toys, his food or his water. And from what our neighbor says, the barking doesn't stop. This is actually the only time he ever really barks. When we come home, the barking stops and everything returns to normal. We leave him in essentially a two room area, the kitchen and dining room, which is gated off from the rest of the house. It is where he spends most of his days. We've tried leaving him in a smaller laundry room, gated off with his crate, toys, food and water. But everytime he ends up vomiting. At least when we leave him in the kitchen/dining room area he never vomits, just barks continuously. Is this just a phase that he'll grow out of since he is a puupy still? Is there anything we can do to help him get past this? We've tried to leave for just short periods of time, like 30 seconds or five minutes, just so that he gets used to us leaving and coming back, but nothing seems to have worked yet. TIA
  4. Defense question: Standard scoring for points allowed, sacks, turnovers, TD's..... I have Tampa as my only Def, facing ATL at home this week. No good defenses left on the waiver wire, but there are some bad D's who have good matchups. Would you pick up STL (facing SF) or Detroit (facing NO) and play them over Tampa, or should I stick with TB. Thanks
  5. This was posted in the news section on RTSports website, but I haven't seen anything elsewhere. Can anybody confirm? "Darren Urban, of the East Valley Tribune, reports Arizona Cardinals K Neil Rackers (calf) hurt his left calf in practice Thursday, Dec. 1. He will have an MRI to determine the seriousness of the injury. Rackers said an Achilles injury has been ruled out and that he was planting for a kick when the injury occurred. Rackers has scored 110 points in 11 games and is seven shy of the NFL record for field goals with 32."
  6. 39 combined yards from Edge and Dallas Clark
  7. Drafted both, along with Steven Jackson and Westbrook. Like Jackson's playoff matchups and needed some help at WR/TE, so I have since traded Westbrook and LJ to upgrade my WR/TE positions (got Fitzgerald, Galloway and Gates). While I'm happy to have Galloway and Gates, miss having LJ.... On a side note, I do have LJ in another league (although sadly no LT2). Last week I got the pleasure of eliminating the Priest owner from the playoff hunt based on LJ's 2TD's/211 yds..........
  8. Qb - Eli RB - LT2, S Jackson WR - Holt, Fitzgerald, Galloway TE - Gates K - Rackers DEF - Bears Bench - Leftwich, J Lewis, M Faulk, Antwain Smith, Driver, DJax Eli, Rackers, and Bears were waiver wire pickups earlier in the year. I recently traded Westbrook/Stallworth to get Fitzgerald/M Bennett, then traded LJ/Bennett/Engram for Gates/Galloway/Lewis. Only bad news is that I dumped Dallas Clark on Sunday morning to pick up Leftwich, thinking I needed some protection for Eli. Clark goes off and Gates goes down............... :doah:
  9. I'd agree with the Williamette Valley pinot suggestions. Lots of good pinots for reasonable prices. If you are looking for a little more expensive bottle ($50-70), let me suggest trying a real Burgundy. Burgundy red wines (all pinot noir) are labeled by the villiage they are produced in, and there are different classes of vineyards. The ranking of Burgundy wines is based on where the grapes used to make the wine are from and goes like so (from best to worst): Grand Cru (specific vineyard - highest quality) Premier Cru (specific vineyard - great quality) Village Wine (any vineyard or mix a vineyards from the village) Burgundy Wine (mix a grapes from any village in the region) I'd look for some of these villages which are known for reds: Nuits-Saint-Georges Aloxe-Corton Vougeot Pernand-Vergelesses Pommard Volnay You can get a great wine from Nuits-Saint-Georges or Vougeot, but they can start to get pricey. Pommard and Volnay are probably a little more reasonable in price (relatively), and a Premier Cru from one of those villages should be cheaper than a premier Cru from Nuits-Saint-Georges or Vougeot (sometimes even cheaper than a village wine from those places). 1999 was a great vintage and would be perfect drinking now, and 2002 was nice also and really is just starting to open up nicely as well, generally speaking.
  10. Had a guy in one of my keeper leagues go 15-0 last year. We keep 4 players, with their value increasing only one round each year. He had Peyton with his second pick, TO with his 8th, and Shaun Alexander with his 12th pick. Needless to say, he had drafted TO and SA early in their careers, and it paid dividends. Blew out everybody throughout the regular season, and beat the guy who had drafted LT2 and Culpepper early in their careers. He's doing well this season, although not undefeated thanks to Peyton's slow start.
  11. 10 team league, performace scoring. Start QB, 2RB, 3WR, TE, K, D I've got: Eli LT2, LJ, S Jackson, Bennett, A Smith Holt, L Fitzgerald, Driver, DJax, Engram, Toomer Dallas Clark Rackers Bears Two deals being discussed: #1 to happen this week LJ, Bennett and Engram for Gates, Galloway and Jamal Lewis or #2 to happen next week -- Same as above without Bennett and Lewis Would you do either deal. I'm inclined to do the deal next week (I don't like the though of starting Bennett this week since LT is on the bye). The other owner (former Priest owner) is pushing for the first deal so he can have LJ this week. Thanks in advance for thoughts/comments......
  12. Snagged LJ in the 7th round, two picks before the Priest owner was going to pick him up. I was shocked he lasted that long. I'm benching Ronnie Brown in favor of LJ this week (teamed with the Edge). Hoping for two HUGH performances from my RB combo. But I am going to make sure that Sunday pregame reports don't include a miraculous recovery by Priest. As added bonus, I'm facing the Priest owner this week. If Priest doesn't go he'll have to start Foster and Duckett, since Bell is on the bye.................
  13. Overtime is one 15 minute period only. If still tied at the end of overtime, the game ends in a tie.
  14. St. Louis Post Dispatch is reporting it will only be a 6 week leave of absence, not a departure from the team. Post article
