Why would anyone look for directions from New York to Paris? If anyone is following these directions, they have much larger problems than Google maps. If you get directions from anywhere in the US to anywhere in Europe, it routes you through Boston to La Havre via the Atlantic. Having this single joke "road" established in their database is a simpler fix than having the server crash whenever it can't find a route from A to B.
