Trying to quit Nicotine

I hate those times during the day where it just seems so necessary-yet not complete until- I have that oh so sweet nicotine I hate to love. I haven't really been counting the days since stopping because it only makes me think about it more but AAARRGG... the patch just doesn't seem to get the job done at certain times. Any suggestions that help keep one's mind off from giving in?

...brb, going to the store to get-- uh, I mean.. I just need to, umm... go fill up my... gas..tank.. Yeah! That's it. :D

Sugarless gum &/or toothpicks helped me when I quit.

I feel your pain, but try to hang in there. Quitting will be one of the best things you'll ever do to improve your health!!! :D

One thing is don’t reward yourself with a cigarette.

Chewing gum sounds pretty good. I do need to find something that is a good enough reward to take my mind off it though. Like a cig... cig... :D

I hate the first two weeks of quitting... :D I say that like I've been here before. :D

I don't think I'll give in. I really do want to quit so I'm hoping this works. I'll just do the lucky "rub the patch" thing and pretend I can feel the effects of it withering away any desire for a cigarette. Besides, this really will help my health in the long run, not to mention save me a lot of money. If only cigarettes were good for you! *heh* *heh* yeah... good for me. :D

Have you tried different methods to quitting? A guy at my office did some kind of laser/inner ear thing 3 weeks ago and he hasn't craved nicotine since.

Anyone else hear about this?

I try searching for information on this and instead find this:

Don't quit smoking today! I know this site is offering help for quitting smoking but is the headline really necessary?

If you buy a pack of cigarettes, you are giving money to people who have absolutely no regard for the fact that by using their product you might die a long, horrible, painful death.  f' them

don't cave in, man

So that means I should not eat Kraft foods?

Try those pouches of chewing tabacco. It'll give you your fix and hopefully you won't become addicted to them....

But try gum first!

:D

...I can see very bad things being the outcome of this 'transaction' from one drug to another. However... :D

Alright, I was slightly off with the whole laser thing. It's called Auricular Therapy and he hasn't craved a cigarette since.

i too have heard the laser works....

"Other than the treatment not working for everyone, there are no downsides to the laser, as long as it is used by a trained technician".

Good luck, grunt.

Did this about 5 years ago. Zyban worked well. Kick the habbit and never went back. The Zyban did make me tense and anxious the whole time I was on it, though. Use Josh Gordon to take the edge off - PM clubfoothead for a hookup.

Don't worry about the weigh gain. Puddy's got a forum for that, too.

Go visit a lung cancer patients in the hospital. That will keep your azz motivated.

:D I'll look into it. Funny how there are so many different uses for 'medical' (or personal) majiuana-- I heard Utah made it legal for the government to distribute it. I bet they make loads of profit on that one. I wonder if a nation wide legality of this would help fix the national debt? :D

Zyban worked for me too with no side effects. Really a great thing to do for yourself.

You can do it!!!
