T_bone65
Who are you going to see? I agree about ticketmaster as well. I would rather pay a scalper then Ticketmaster
darin3
I'm not gonna disagree, much... but Ticketmaster is a BUSINESS and the point of having a business is making money. I guarantee they don't get any cut of the ticket price nor the building facility fee. So they're making $7.10 off of you, which does seem inflated. The processing charge is for the envelope and printing of a ticket, as I recall (sounds like a bit much). So yeah, it is pretty much a spankin', but what are you gonna do? darin3
And they encourage you to print the ticket at home - for an extra charge above their other fees. I thought that was free. I haven't ordered through Ticketmaster in quite some time. We have some other service here in Austin that's not so bad.
Ursa Majoris
Who are you going to see? I agree about ticketmaster as well. I would rather pay a scalper then Ticketmaster Patti Smith at the State Theater here in Minny. I'll drive down at lunch one day next week, pay $3 to park and face value for the tix, about $1.00 for the gas to get there and back. Convenience charge, my ass. And they encourage you to print the ticket at home - for an extra charge above their other fees. Yeah, the bassturds - another $1.50 so you can use YOUR paper and YOUR ink. Yeah, the bassturds - another $1.50 so you can use YOUR paper and YOUR ink. That's not Ticketmaster charging you to park. But yeah, the printing-at-home thing is wack. I avoid Ticketmaster if possible. I know it's tough.

loaf
I took a walk out to the sun But I just, just couldn't take it I followed a dream It was circular But I just, just could not fake it Step to the left the left the left Step to the right the right the right Pick up the sign the sign the sign For a stride of the mind the mind the mind Simon of the desert blew into town On the scalding tail of a bright cold wind Slipped through the sand Footprints emerged Where no one was walking Simon had been Dropped from heaven To a ready made world Said I'm no Sufi But I'll give it a whirl We booked passage on the Book of the Dead Time to travel Simon said Step to the left the left the left Step to the right the right the right Pick up the sign the sign the sign On the stride of the mind the mind the mind Come on move where dreams increase Where every man is a masterpiece If you want to be counted As another kind And you're true, pursue Stride of the mind the mind the mind Stride of the mind the mind the mind He bowed three times Removed his fez Pointed to heaven And Simon says The mind the mind the mind Pick up the sign the mind the mind It's a vertical climb the climb the climb Stride of the mind the mind the mind Pick up the sign the sign the sign It's a vertical climb the climb Take it in stride As Patti says, take it in stride
frenzal rhomb
Just yesterday bought two Dropkick Murphys tickets - 36 bucks. No building fee etc. Til they got done - 49.85. 38.4% of ticket value in fees. Problem is theyre practically a monopoly.
Ursa Majoris
As Patti says, take it in stride Or, from Paul Allen's point of view: Every night before I go to sleepFind a ticket, win a lottery, Scoop the pearls up from the sea Cash them in and buy you all the things you need. Every night before I rest my head See those dollar bills go swirling 'round my bed. I know they're stolen, but I don't feel bad. I take that money, buy you things you never had. Oh, baby, it would mean so much to me, Oh, baby, to buy you all the things you need for free. I'll buy you a jet plane, baby, Get you on a higher plane to a jet stream And take you through the stratosphere And check out the planets there and then take you down Deep where it's hot, hot in Arabia, babia, then cool, cold fields of snow And we'll roll, dream, roll, dream, roll, roll, dream, dream. When we dream it, when we dream it, when we dream it, We'll dream it, dream it for free, free money, Free money, free money, free money, free money, free money, free money. Every night before I go to sleep Find a ticket, win a lottery. Every night before I rest my head See those dollar bills go swirling 'round my bed. Oh, baby, it would mean so much to me, Baby, I know our troubles will be gone. Oh, I know our troubles will be gone, goin' gone If we dream, dream, dream for free. And when we dream it, when we dream it, when we dream it, Let's dream it, we'll dream it for free, free money, Free money, free money, free money, X7 Free money, free money, free money, free. The processing charge is for the envelope and printing of a ticket, as I recall (sounds like a bit much). So yeah, it is pretty much a spankin', but what are you gonna do? Don't be so sure of this. The facility fees are collected for the venue itself, but the ticket price is not always a straight shot to the promoter or the artist. Often times, the ticket distributor is involved in bankrolling tours and performances, and has agreements in place with venues well in advance of any bookings. I know Ticketmaster isn't charging me to park - I was showing that for $3 parking and $1 gas I can go buy the damn things myself and not add to that bloated plutocrat Paul Allen's worldly fortune by paying the scumsucker $12.35 in charges. Paul Allen may have a stake in IAC/Interactive, but he is not the chairman. That's Barry Diller. His controlling share of TicketMaster was sold off years ago.
